“Perfect location!”
Great to be in the heart of Magome as it meant we were ready to set off to Tsumago first thing in the morning. Great value for money for a spot in such a great location. Glad to experience sleeping on futon mattress and explore the beautiful old town. Enjoyed chatting in the shared dining room with other walkers and could then retire to our rooms ready to rise early the next day for the walk to Tsumago! If you are bringing your dinner there is a small kitchen with a microwave etc which was really useful as no restaurants were available by the time we arrived in the evening.

“It was refreshing to be welcomed by Karen and later on, by Jen. They were very accommodating.”
The inn was perfectly located, right in the main street of magome-juku. Dinner experience was very good as we were given a glimpse and taste of Japanese culture.

“Great location”
Magome Chaya is perfectly located on the trail that goes through Magome. It’s perfectly comfortable for a one or two night stay. There is nothing to eat in Magome after 6pm so be sure to get the dinner.

A charming guest house which was clean and comfortable. The staff provided exceptional service and the dinner served promptly at 6pm was a wonderful experience. I really appreciated that they provided a vegetarian meal. The dormitory space and bunk bed was private with curtained area and comfortable bedding.Staying here right at the start of the Magome juku section of the Nakasendo trail was a highlight of my trip.

Th dinner was delicious and very different from anything we’ve had before, which was great. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and made us feel at home straight away. The onsen bath was cool too. Magome is a beautiful village and it was nice to be there without the crowds. I would highly recommend this hotel, we loved it!
