It was a beautifully kept entire apartment Japanese style with a private balcony. I loved the space and the kind hosts who were very attentive. The location was very central in the village.

First a fantastic location, the Nakasendo trail passes right in front of the house. The hosts, Yugi and Gihu are wonderful, kind and sweet people. We had 2 incredible home cooked meals, prepared by Yugi the masterchef. (You have to book food in advance). The best food we have tasted in Japan and beyond. Also the traditional Japanese breakfast, prepared by Gihu was great. The traditional house was spacious, had all comfort and amenities and above all: excellent tatami beds. We've loved it and the kids loved it. Our best experience in Japan so far.

in the center of the old village, traditional japanese housing (with futon bed, but on 2 mattrasses!!) but with all the modern amenitied. The guesthouse doesn't offer meals but Kenta arranged fantastic dinner and indicated where to find breakfast.

Large space with great kitchen facilities. Bed was very comfortable and kept us warm at night! Good heating as the apartment does get cold without it. Wonderful assistance with organising dinner. Beautiful spot in town and lovely balcony to watch sunrise and sunset. Note decent incline from bus stop up to accommodation. If you are doing the hike in winter make sure to bring shoe spikes the track can get very icy!

Location was great. It was quiet. Reasonable kitchen facilities. All the appliances worked. It was very clean. All the crockery was new and matching.

This place was exceptional and was our favourite place of our Japan trip! We opted in for the meal, and I highly recommend it! Yuji's cooking skills are amazing! The mattress was very comfortable! Everyone was very friendly and helpful, and I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in the area.

We were very impressed by the hospitality of our host Kenta, who gave us an extremely friendly welcome and many useful instructions for the property. We were grateful to have so much space all to ourselves, including a nicely-designed upstairs sleeping area with a traditional Japanese aesthetic. Magome was a beautiful, restful place to stay. We would recommend it to anyone, and Guesthouse Yanagiya was an ideal base to explore it.

You could not ask for a better location. Stunning views.

The communication with the host was brilliant. Location was perfect and the accommodation was excellent. There's lots of lovely little shops by the place including several where you can buy some simple food supplies if needed.
