“Best minshuku on Nakasendo trail”
The beds were super comfortable! The whole place has a lovely fragrance. The shared bathrooms and toilets were exceptionally clean. Dinner was excellent. The sunset view from our bedroom window was stunning! It was lovely to dine with other travellers and shared an evening of great food and stories. Loved our hostess, Keiko.. she was really warm and hospitable.

“Description of the accomodation was accurate. It was a very easy and pleasant one night stay.”
The food excellent. The host took time to welcome us and engage with us. It was the only place we stayed where we shared a bathroom with other guests, but this posed no problem as there was two bathrooms and two seperate toilets.

Such an amazing ryokan experience. Our host was the warmest, kindest lady who made me feel instantly at home. The inn was absolutely spotless and the room was charming and extremely confortable. “Incredible host and beautiful location”
We had an amazing stay thanks to the incredible hospitality of the host. The meals provided were perhaps the best we had during our trip in Japan and it was clear how much effort and care the host took in making them. The entire property is in good condition, kept very clean and well maintained.

The host Keiko is fantastic. She was super attentive and could feel and see her attention to detail to all aspects. Especially with her cooking is exceptional. I don't need to say anything more, you need to stop and stay at Motomiya to experience it.

We had a truly wonderful stay at this ryokan. The owner was absolutely charming, attentive, and genuinely caring, making sure everything was perfect for us. The food was an absolute dream – beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Our rooms were spotless and very comfortable. As a family, we felt completely at ease and enjoyed a truly relaxing and memorable time here. Highly recommended!

“Authentic feeling ryokan on the Nakasendo”
Wonderful Ryokan with traditional meals and a very kind host. Beds were very comfortable 30cm mattresses/futon on tatami mats. A very authentic feeling experience and stay overall.
