Overview
Yamanokami Onsen is a traditional Japanese hot spring resort in Nagano, within a 15-minute walk from Zenko-ji temple and Jouyama Park. Gender-separated indoor public baths are available 24 hours. The property also provides free Wi-Fi, and a daily Japanese breakfast served at its dining room. The Japanese-style rooms all come with tatami-mat flooring and futon bedding, as well as a seating area where guests can enjoy tea and views of Zenko-ji temple. Bathroom facilities are shared. Yamanokami Onsen is a 17-minute drive from Nagano Station. Obuse Hokusai-kan is a 40-minute drive away, while Togakushi Shrine Okusha is a 50-minute drive from the property. On-site parking is free. Guests can request for a massage, or buy drinks at the vending machine. Luggage can be stored at the front desk.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming, even though they spoke very little English and I had little idea what they were saying in Japanese, but we communicated the basics. The hotel was a great traditional ryokan experience. The onsen bath is very relaxing, albeit small. The room was spacious and comfortable with a beautiful view of the city from the balcony.
