The room was very large (high ceiling with a loft), although every room has a different layout. Comfortable futons, outdoor private onsen bath on the verandah and a luxurious massage chair. Staff were very courteous and considerate. Onsen was nice (& not busy). All the food was wonderful, including a complimentary lunch which was also provided. The view was beautiful - so serene. Although a distance from the train, we were collected and dropped off at the station. Although not cheap, it was good value when you add in the meals, the transport and high quality accommodation. Communication prior to arrival was also good.

Lovely ryokan with good view of Lake Biwa. We enjoy the spacious room and elegant decor in the ryokan. Fresh ikebana in the room. Dinner was beautiful and delicious.

This is my 4th time here. The outdoor bath with the view. And now they have a divider for shower which makes it better during winter!

Staff very friendly, helpful and attentive. Especially Ms. Singh, good smiling face and fluent English speaking. Room was spacious and surprised to have a massage chair. Both dinner were delicious.

It has full lake view. Extremely well kept property, but more traditional luxury than modern luxury. The staff are amazing they go out of the way to make things better for us in every way.

“Amazing, Relaxing Ryokan Stay”

Everything was amazing, the staff are so friendly, and could communicate with us in English which was appreciated. Food was delicious, we opted for the vegan menu, presentation and attention to detail were great. We stayed in a Japanese style room and had meals in our room, the futon beds were comfortable, the in room onsen and massage chair made for a relaxing stay. The room had beautiful views of the lake and staying here was an experience I won’t forgot, worlds away from the crowds of Tokyo and Osaka.

Exceeded my expectations. High levels of service. Friendly staff. Wonderful views. Clean and comfortable . Relaxed in our traditional yukata. Enjoyed the private and hotel Onsens. Wonderful trip to Hikone castle & gardens.

The staff was extremely kind and caring. There is a shuttle to and from the train station which is practical. The view was beautiful and it was very peaceful.

We loved the private bath as well as the spacious and traditional room. Having a massage chair looking out over Lake Biwa was an added bonus. The staff were also very friendly, responsive, and kind.

“A beautiful experience”

Having not been to a place like this previously it was difficult to know what to expect. We suspected the room & private bath would be nice and the surrounding area would be peaceful, beside the water and in a nice quiet village. Well, it was all that and so much more. The food was truly stunning and the staff genuinely went out of their way at every opportunity to make sure our stay was enjoyable. If you're looking for a recharge weekend within hire car distance from Osaka/Kyoto I'd recommend you consider Ryokan Beniayu for 1-2 nights.

“Nice”

The hotel has a very nice view of Lake Biwa especially for the sunset. The space of the room is not huge but it perfectly fit a family of 4 with open air hot spring bath. The public onsen is also good and quite with nice view. Ard 45-55 mins drive to Gransnow Obuibuki

Excellent location, beautiful view of the lake, possibility of observing wild birds. Delicious food. Above all, the wonderful people who run this ryokan. We felt very special there.
