If you have the opportunity to stay at this unique property, do not hesitate. The building is centuries old and has been beautifully renovated and modernized, with great respect for both its history and modern comfort. The accommodation is small-scale and full of character. A remarkable temple is located just a few dozen meters away, adding to the special atmosphere of the area. We also really liked the pillows. They were of a type we had never used before, but we found them surprisingly comfortable. A practical tip: to find the reception, first walk to the entrance of the accommodation and face the temple. Then walk about 6 meters backwards. The reception will be on your right.

“Warm hospitality in a lovely part of town”
Such a friendly welcome! The host was so helpful assisting us to find a good place to eat dinner, and we enjoyed the location very much. The room was spotless. Bed was comfortable. Coffee machine in the room was very nice also the complimentary drinks in the refrigerator. Breakfast was good-sized and tasty. Secure parking space for our bicycles was great! Room was very quiet. :) The inn is located in a very pretty part of town near a lovely temple and interesting shops.

Aesthetic Ryokan, in front of the aesthetic Temple at aesthetic traditional neighborhood. The facilities is super clean and you can use sauna as well. I had great breakfast here

“Memorable and somewhere we will return again soon!”
Loved the staff and the property - Shimpei and staff was superb, thoughtful, responsive, and just lovely. We learned so much about Lake Biwa’s local culture in such a short time thanks to Shimpei and Riyona (the resident artist)! We also loved the sauna and our room. Super cozy and also airy at the same time. Central location from train station (perfect walking distance), but quiet at the same time! Beautiful traditional neighbourhood. We also appreciated the property’s curation of local products such as the bancha tea sampler and sweet potato mochi. These little gestures/sharings really made an impression on us.

“We enjoyed the “cuteness” of this “kominkan” style Quarters.”
Very traditional type of accommodation slightly modernized in a cool way. Slap bang dab in the middle of the old town. Feels like you’re on a movie set, or you’ve gone back in time. I’ve been to Japan a million times but I’ve never had accommodation quite like this before. Bedroom has a really nice ambiance. Reception host speaks fluent English and was very helpful with all inquiries.
