From start to finish I can’t express how welcome the families here in this village make you feel. Everyone is so friendly. We stayed at Evidan Homestay with Elia and his beautiful family. The rooms were comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious. A real Fijian authentic experience . Can’t express how important it is to stay in homestays when visiting Fiji. Resorts are cool but homestays are just amazing. The family were so helpful getting us around. The caves are a must see when travelling here. Would 100% recommend this homestay to anyone travelling to Yasawa Islands.

Best place ever

This was our favourite place to stay in Fiji. A simple family run accomodation with simple meals provided, simple bathroom facilities and rooms, but the location and peace and quiet were incredible. Navi and his family are so friendly and accomodating, and visiting the village, hiking through the mountains and having the quiet beaches almost to yourself was a really unique experience. We much preferred the home stay over the busy resorts, and highly recommend Navi home stay if you’re visiting Nacula!

A very good way to experience village life of real Fijian people. I highly recommend staying in this place to have a great cultural Fijian experience! We got every meal in a different family and it was always extraordinary. I was just feeling unsure how to behave sometimes because they never told us how to properly behave in the village and how the rules are. Still a very unique experience everyone should mike while being in Fiji!

Best traditional homestay in the Yasawas

This village home-stay was a joy and a privilege to experience, with true Fijian heart felt hospitality. The people are absolutely lovely here. You got to have a meal in a different home every day and meet the families. They will treat you with utmost respect so prefer to sit with you while you eat and then they eat later. It is their way of caring and respecting you so please dont feel it as rejection. The food was fantastically fresh and traditional with fresh fish, crab and locally sourced and grown fruit and veges. Life is simple and uncomplicated. Church is a big part of life here and at 6am and 6pm the huge log drum was used to summon parishioners. The singing was absolutely beautiful. The community hall got lot of use with meetings, cava ceremonies and gatherings. It was wonderful to see the local children arrive home from school in a small boat on Friday. Once they are over 9yrs they board at another location on the island to attend school together and come home every weekend to eagerly awaiting parents. The junior school in the village is very cute and the children love interaction. Given the true traditional nature of this unspoiled village you must keep to the traditions and not wear hats in the village and ladies must wear a sarong so no shorts, leggings or trousers. Drinking water is free and there are mosquito nets although I didnt experience any mosquitoes. No shop here but you can charge your phone. If you can bring any medical supplies such iodine, bandages, bandaids and dressings please do as the local health centre is a boat trip away and supplies can be limited for them. They will soo very much appreciate your kindness. Please do not bring plastics as they cannot be recycled. Any supplies for the school will also be gratefully received. Get cava for the chief if you can as this a a traditional gift. The best is the very long thick rooted type from Nandi market but it is pricey. Otherwise just bring a big smile :0)

We had a wonderful stay in beautiful Malakati - having a bure to ourselves, beachfront with beautiful access to snorkel and the sunset. The people of the village were welcoming, particularly the children. We were also able to take a trip to the Sau-i-Lau caves which was pretty cool!

Experience Fijian village life with a lovely family

We really enjoyed our stay at EVIDAN homestay in Naisisili Village. Elia, Philipp, Kale and Philipp Jr. were very kind and welcomed us into their family. Kale‘s cooking was amazing (veggie for us) and they made sure we never left hungry. The house is inside the village, not at the beach, so it can get a little hot, but there‘s always a breeze in the shade behind the house. Also there are plenty of windows so it’s fine at night too. The beach is only a minute away and there are two more beautiful beaches in walking distance. There is solar power so you can charge your devices and the shower and toilet outside the house are working well. We can definitely recommend staying there and experiencing Fijian village life :)

Experience the true Fiji

What an amazing experience for our kids. We were able to experience the true Fiji. We ate at a different locals’ house each day, attended church, visited the caves and got to experience how the locals live. It’s not a resort experience and it’s a bit rough but that’s what we loved about it. The locals were very hospitable and kind. Highly recommend.

The family took me in and treated me like family. We had great conversations at the dinner table, and we both learned a lot about each other's culture. They made sure that I had everything I needed. The room was clean and simple. The area was lovely with beach access and walks to the village and town. The food was delicious.

We liked every single day we spent in Nabukeru village. Misi, our host, was super nice and the whole village was great with us. Food was good and plenty (every meal was cooked by a different family). You will mainly eat cassava rice noodles and fish which for us was great. Do bring bottle water (unfortunately rain water gave us bellyaches) and some snacks as there are no shops in the village: it is going to be you and the ocean and nothing else. The homestay house is on the beach, very simple but absolutely gorgeous. Our kids played with the village kids, we visited cassava fields, we went to visit the school, spent time with people, snorkels a lot (great coral rift very close by by plus amazing blue lagoon caves you can visit). We went to mess on Sunday with the community. We took lots of boat trips, went fishing, it was really a great experience. My son cried when he said goodbye to Misi! We will bring Nabukeru in our hearts!

Lovely people, beautiful village, beautiful views.

We liked experiencing village life and meeting the friendly children! We already miss the enthusiastic “Bula!”s. The hosts were nice and warmed up to us the longer we were there. We stayed 3 nights, I think 5 would be ideal. We also got to attend Ps Elias Sunday church service (in Fijian). We love Pipo Junior and miss him 🥹

It was a family homestay, and kind people were looking after us. Thank you! Accommodation is a simple little cottage, right in front of the beach. Close to the village or a 1.5-hour hike to the Blue Lagoon resort. A cave trip was great! Don't expect anything luxurious, it's a homestay and you will have all you need and thank you for accommodating my dietary requirements.

Remote Yasawa Island experience with stunning nature

It was in a Fijian village and remote which gave a special experience. The Fijian people in the village were kind and the ability to snorkel to see some amazing coral reef was really special. An opportunity to experience how people live in the Yasawas Islands.
