Staff offered a better room for us, much appreciated. The best thing is that the location is very near the JR Station. I will stay here if I come back to Kii-Katsuura next time for sure.

Staying at WhyKumano was a wonderful experience! The hotel is ideally located, just across from Kii-Katsuura station (served by limited express trains to Shin-Ōsaka and Nagoya) - it's so close, you can see the information boards with the time of your next train. Interior is lovely, I found it characterful and a really pleasant space to inhabit. There are around 10 bunks and a larger guest room, served by two showers, two toilets, and a kitchen. The staff also run a cafe in the mornings and a cafe/bar in the evenings (featuring many local beverages and with a small selection of food options). This was incredibly convenient and really added to the atmosphere. The bunks were comfortable (the bed was a little on the firmer side, which is my preference) and well-designed. Each feels solid and enclosed, has a socket, provided fan (necessary as the humidity in this area is generally high), and other amenities. There was even a small window built into my bunk to let in sunlight so you could tell whether it was morning. The whole place feels intentionally designed in the same manner. Staff were also lovely, very friendly, and spoke English well enough to make communication simple. Location is also ideal to explore the local area (featuring many restaurants using delicious locally-caught fresh tuna), local beaches, and accessing Nachisan mountain and the famous shrine/temple complex there. Local shop-owners have a notably high level of English too. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat! It was a wrench to have to leave!

The location, cleanliness, super comfy beds and very cleverly designed bunk beds. Designated drying area with drying fans ideal for wet weather or doing some simple laundry. Very good morning coffee and breakfast available for purchase

Literally across the street from the station. Kitchen small but has microwave, fridge and kettle. Beds comfy. Can store luggage easily. Check in and out was easy.
