Overview
Set on a farm next to Lake Mývatn, this guest house offers self-catering rooms and cottages with free WiFi and nature views. The geothermally heated Mývatn Nature Baths are a 10-minute drive away. At Dimmuborgir Guesthouse, all rooms and cottages feature private bathroom facilities. Private full kitchen facilities are provided in the cottages, while guest rooms have access to a shared kitchen. A breakfast buffet featuring local ingredients is served at the main house, and this includes smoked trout made on site. BBQ facilities are also available at Guesthouse Dimmuborgir. The Dimmuborgir volcanic rock formations are 2 km from the guesthouse. The Route 1 Ring Road is a 5-minute drive away. The staff can help with arranging activities with local tour operators.

“A guesthouse to be back definitely”
The guesthouse has a fantastic view and the position is close to several interest points. The room was small but with everything we needed.

Our cottage was cozy and charming! We also got to meet two dogs: a Golden Retriever who was constantly snacking and loved spending time outdoors, and a Border Collie who was napping most of the time.

“Lovely staff, lake view but older cabin”
In all fairness, we were a bit disappointed. The only thing I really liked here are the location (lake view) and staff. But the cabin was tired and too small.

“What an experience!”
Excellent place to view northern lights as the area is very dark at night! We were lucky becos we saw a lot of stars & northern light during our 1 nite stay there!

Nice place located close to the Myvatn lake. The room was ok with a separate entrance from the outside. There is a communal kitchen that is clean and equipped with two tables and one sofa to rest, read or even play some board games. We found the accommodation in a good place due to the route we planned.

“Lovely place in beautiful location”
Superb location and well signposted on the road. Small but cosy room with nice bathroom suite. Heating perfect! Staff was very nice and friendly.

The location and view is very nice. Would be a good place to observe an aurora if you're lucky. Dogs are very well behaved and cute. They'll sometimes chill out near your room.

“Amazing location!”
The room was small, but very clean and warm. The bed was comfortable and the shower was lovely and hot. The breakfast was fabulous looking out over beautiful Lake Myvatn. The location is excellent by the lake and very close to Dimmuborgir lava field, Hverfjall crater and the Myvatn nature baths, which the host kindly assisted with the booking of.

“Short and satisfying.”
