Very nice rooms and cozy place

“Fantastic Hotel with great Onsen and lovely staff - highly recommend”

Loved this guest house. I was travelling alone visiting my son who lives nearby. My room was spacious, comfortable and really clean and well presented. Fabulous Onsen and really good breakfast each morning. Super location with an easy walk up a small hill into Akakura for restaurants and the ski lifts. The staff were lovely, really kind and friendly. I didn't use the restaurant/bar but it was a really nice space and I'm sure would have been great. Can't recommend Hotel Mumon enough.

“Great”

Great stay overall. The accommodation is a bit dated, but very comfortable with plenty of heating, a sink in the room, and access to a shared bathroom onsen. The location is convenient—about a 10-minute walk to the centre of Akakura and 5 minutes to the Kumado ski lifts. They also accept snowboard delivery via Yamato and can help organise forwarding to your next destination, which makes travelling super easy.

The staff were friendly. Not in your face but available as required. The services they provided were great (laundry, room clean, local knowledge). The restaurant is very understated. The breakfasts were simple yet some of the best we’ve had in Japan (western). The dinners - amazing. Limited options but so tasty and relatively cheap. We couldn’t get into our favourite restaurant (sumo nabe) and ended up eating at the hotel restaurant most nights (yes there are other options in town but why would you when the food here is so good). Great sake and beer. The room was quite large and had its own ensuite. The location was a 10-15 minute walk to the bus terminal, a lot of uphill but not an issue for us being relatively fit.

We stayed here to go skiing as a family. Staff were excellent, and very accommodating. Bar and food onsite if you can’t be bothered one night or want a quick night cap. There’s a lounge room at the front which became a hangout spot and met a lot of nice people. Location is pretty convenient, although there is a hill to walk up to access the closest slopes which our 3 year old couldn’t do. This made lugging skis up really annoying. However, adults can manage quite well. The other nearest slope is a good 15-20 min hike with gear on. But if you’re not skiing then the Main Street is only 5 mins walk, so very close. We didn’t try and park, but I could see this being a bit of an issue as the entry is a bit tight and there’s only a handful of spots

“Nice stay in a warm atmosphere”

Cosy small hotel, the rooms are clean and very warm in winter which was really appreciated. Look a bit all but nice atmosphere and nice service. The owners are always ready to help. The room to store the ski is in the hotel and you can go directly outside.

Very friendly and helpful 2nd generation family run guest house. A short walk from the main Street in Myoko with lots of night life. Good access to the local ski slopes. All very charming and we would come again. Oh and the rooms were toasty warm too without the gas fires you often get.

Staff were very polite and friendly. The accommodation is in old mountain lodge style and very cozy. Their western style breakfast is simple but yummy in a fine dining room though the hotel is small. Their home made orange marmalade is soo yummy !

Very friendly and helpful staff. Helped us to book a taxi! Short walk to Kumado info centre/ski lift. Discount vouchers available for snow gear hire and lift pass. Drying room and storage room for skis/snowboards in hotel. Large room with ensuite. Tea and snacks replenished every day. Onsen available in hotel. Short walk to Akakura Onsen Main Street with lots of restaurants and a convenience store available.

The staff were great and really friendly. The room was warm 100% of the time without the need for a kerosene heater as there was built-in central heating. The room was spacious with everything you needed. Room service was brilliant with pj's folded on the bed and fresh snacks on the table

A very well managed hotel. The 2 guys who are in the frontline speak English which helps a lot. And they are very helpful. I loved the rooms very spacious with a sofa area. And the heater considering it was still cold and snowing had the option of the air conditioner and the gas heater( however this can get smelly understandably) unlike some places where it’s only the gas heater. I will definitely be back n looking forward to staying with Hotel Mumon again. Ps- short walk to ski lifts Akakura onsen n the restaurants
