Owner could not pick us up from 1.5km up the hill but when we got there, the owner left in his car & we had to wait for an hour before we could check in, nice!

Breakfast was more comprehensive than most others we have experienced. Snacks for purchase were relatively inexpensive. Staff were friendly and helpful. Beds were reasonably comfortable. Dinner was delicious.

The owner couples where very welcoming and friendly and went out of their way to make the stay as pleassant as possible for everybody.

The elderly couple were like our parents away from home! They were more than obliging to help with anything and made some delicious food. They always felt approachable at any time of day - always friendly and very helpful in every conversation.

Clean & organised !

Masa and his wife made our stay feel like a home away from home. Friendly and smiling service at all times. Also Masa is an ex-michelin star chef. He will serve the best sushi/ramen you'll have in a long time at very affordable prices. Approx $40 for the best dinner we had on our 6 week trip through Japan. Highly recommend. Good dry room and laundry services as well made our stay and incredibly enjoyable one. The walk up/down the hill into down is a bit of a slog but that's only once a day so it's worth it for the awesome price that is offered per night.

“Feels like home”

This is an amazing guesthouse, I highly recommend you to have your breakfast and dinner booked at the lodge, it's delicious and made with love (with good quantity!). You really feel like home and the hosts/owners are helpful, kind and lovely with everyone. I had the best sleep in months there ! Also, they always worries about our comfort and well being, really want to visit them every time I come back to Japan now. Extra : I love pets and there's a young cat at the house, as 2 cute dogs, so that was a perfect place for me !

Delightful couple. Really helpful. Helped sort out bag service via Takyu Bin to get them to Hokkaido which was super seamless and so helpful. Lovely bath/onsen room and nice quiet bedroom.

Very friendly, accommodating, and helpful staff. Large bath available, tasty and well priced food available.

“Excellent”

I just like their location, quite and nice, just 3mins drive to the Akakura ticket office. And I like their whole house, interior are clean and tidy. The most important thing is owners are super nice.

“Pleasant.”

We had a reasonable stay at the guesthouse. The place is warm and cosy, the rooms are simple but freshly made up, I would have loved a shelf or cupboard to unpack my clothes and items, spent the week trying to find all our gear! The view out the windows is of lovely snow covered fields and trees. Massa's sushi meal that we ordered one evening was excellent. His wife is lovely, and speaks reasonable English, but is busy working as a teacher.
