I loved how homely I felt at the stay. It looked exactly like a warm house with bedroom, living area, kitchen, outdoor seating space to chill at night. Plants around the house making it a good atmosphere.

This was already the second time I stayed there. Seems like they did quite a lot of cleaning/tidying up as it was much cleaner this time :) I enjoy how people hang out together and chat here all the time. You never feel alone and can always find a friend to chat with.

Great place with an amazing atmosphere, super kind staff, friendly people (and cat), clean and fresh sheets, cozy rooms, clean bathroom and kitchen (huge kitchen with everything you need +free food that everyone can share), great location (near vege restaurants and place with milkshakes and shops and atm) - the best hostel in not only Oman but also the whole Middle East - thank you for your hospitality- I’ll come back for sure:)

A comfortable and welcoming stay at Basil’s Hostel, run by brothers Basil and Ziyad. They are kind, patient, and helpful, creating a warm, respectful, and friendly vibe — like staying with friends. Great for travelers who enjoy cooking, socializing, music, or quiet time. Rooms are clean with good airflow and comfortable mattresses. Kitchen and common areas are cozy and clean. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. On my first night, I joined their dinner during Ramadan — it was a special and traditional experience. Sometimes they play traditional music at night, which is interesting and adds a nice cultural touch. Location is convenient — about 10 minutes’ drive from the airport, 2–3 km from the famous mosque, 1 km to a big supermarket and ATM, money exchange , and a small grocery store just 2 minutes’ walk.

I really enjoyed staying at the hostel! All the people there are incredibly friendly. You can tell that they all come here to have a good time, connect with people and find travel companions. The hosts are easy going and give tips when needed. The female dorm is very spacious and everyone made sure to respect the house rules.

This hostel honestly started to feel like coming home. It attracts so many cool people who genuinely want to connect, make plans, and explore together. The hosts and brothers Basil and Ziyad along with their friends create such a welcoming atmosphere that it feels more like a home than a hostel. It’s a truly special place. Everything is clean and has everything you need. Evenings feel like hanging out with friends. The location is perfect, about 15 minutes from the airport, with lots of great restaurants within walking distance. During my trip me as well as other travellers ept returning to this hostel and where you could often reconnect with people you met elsewhere n Oman. I’d honestly come back just to relax and spend time there. Highly recommended!

Basil Hostel is absolutely amazing. If you are looking for a place to stay in Muscat, I definitely recommend this place. The atmosphere is wonderful, and Basil, his brothers, and their whole family and friends are incredibly welcoming and kind. You immediately feel at home. The people you meet here are great, and it is a very easy place to connect with fellow travellers. The location is perfect, conveniently situated between the airport and the main attractions in Muscat. The prices are also very good and offer great value. If you are looking for a social hostel where you can meet amazing people and easily plan day trips together, this is the place to stay. Basil and his team are very helpful and can organise day trips for you in a way that makes you feel safe and well looked after. Highly recommended.

This is my third visit in a year and a half, and the reason is my love for the people of the Sultanate of Oman 💛 people of peace and love. This hostel feels like a small homeland for all nationalities; everyone feels comfortable and experiences days of relaxation, tranquility, and warmth.

“Solo traveler paradise - i will come back”

Very social hostel, there is a hostel chat which helps planning and connecting. The people working there are super helpful, funny and good hearted people. Many events and meet ups. Truely amazing. In the female dorm (where i stayed) were curtains, power sockets, small light and we had an ensuite bathroom. The hostel offers tours you can join (perfect as solo traveler without car). Well equipped kitchen, big living room and outdoor area to sit. I extended my stay to about 9 nights. You will not regret! Location is also great (Muscat has no real city center). There are many shops for Coffee and many amazing restaurants close by.

The best hostel I ever had. Basil and all of the crew are super friendly and helpful. Every evening we sit together, talking, playing music or cards and just had fun. I felt welcome from the first moment and it is more than a hostel. Its like living in a family or with friends. A big kitchen and outside place to stay makes everything comfortable.
