The range and quality of food on offer at Alai is excellent. Locals will enjoy traditional Sri Lankan dishes, while those from overseas will find a selection of dishes catering to a wide range of tastes. Rooms are spacious, private and conveniently located close to the restaurant and pool area. Staff are focused on delivering a high level of customer service. They are happy to accommodate most requests to ensure guests are comfortable during their stay. Within walking distance of Mullaitivu town centre.

“Excellent place to relax by the Indian Ocean and beat the overcrowded beaches further south”

The hotel is set on a quiet street right by the ocean. The beach is long, wide and very clean. There are cabins,distanced far enough from one another to be private. The staff was really kind, truly going out of its way to make my stay more comfortable. The manager even drove me to the barber when I first went into town and couldn’t find it. A truly friendly staff.

The food was amazing and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is beautiful and close to the beach.

“Charming Vintage-Style Hotel with Excellent Hospitality”

I had a truly memorable stay at this unique and welcoming hotel. From the moment we arrived, we experienced high hospitality and warm service that made us feel right at home. Special thanks to the great manager, Don Lal, who was extremely helpful and attentive. Also, Assistance Ketheeswaran went above and beyond to assist with everything we needed. In fact, all the staff were very helpful, friendly, and professional, which really added to the overall experience. The hotel has a vintage style and authentic atmosphere, beautifully decorated with classic cars and a traditional bullock cart—a unique and charming touch that gives the place real character. The hotel is in a very good beach location, with clean sand, calm waters, and beautiful views—perfect for relaxing and enjoying the coastal scenery. Our room had a good sea view, and the bed was very comfortable, ensuring restful sleep throughout the stay. One small suggestion: midnight beach access would be ideal, especially for guests who enjoy a peaceful walk or stargazing by the sea at night. We were welcomed with a fresh fruit juice, which was a refreshing and thoughtful gesture. The food was delicious, with a wide variety of flavorful dishes served daily. Overall, this hotel offers more than just a stay—it provides a full experience filled with comfort, charm, and exceptional service. I highly recommend it and would love to return!

Nice place for a break out of the world. A very nice hotel with good cottages in a wonderful garden. And very tasty food and breakfast at the restaurant. A natural beach. You should visit this place.

Don amd his staff were all extremely attentive and kind. The restaurant was particularly lovely with very affordable fresh juices, fruit salads, delicious curries and fresh fish dishes

Absolutely Incredible Stay! First and foremost, the staff were the heart of our amazing experience. They were incredibly friendly, attentive. The private beach was an absolute gem—clean, well-maintained, and wonderfully peaceful. Thanks to this fantastic hotel, we had the most amazing holiday ever. The combination of stellar service, delicious food, stunning views, and a pristine beach made it a dream getaway.

“A quality hotel offering some luxury”

If you are looking for somewhere to stay that offers some luxury and style then this is the place. Beautiful hotel set in lovely grounds, pool, sun beds near beach, very comfortable and spacious rooms, excellent chef in the restaurant serving reasonably priced good quality tasty food and attentive waiting staff. Ashok and his team, or the waiting staff, was incredibly friendly and helped adjust the timings to suit our schedule. Very useful as there is very few restaurants and supermarkets close by. The chalets here are quite large and spacious, and the resort is set next to the beach and a large lagoon.

1 night stay on way up to Jaffna. Friendly welcome by manager, who wanted to do everything to please. Good location, watched fishermen haul in catch on beach. Good restaurant, super helpful staff. Comfortable rooms.

We had a roomy cabana with a large bed and terrace. There was an attractive restaurant area- great location near a very quiet beach. Most of the staff were friendly. The place has lots of potential.

“Great beach spot in a town with limited choices”

The location is lovely - set on a quiet stretch of beach. And the cabins are nice with high ceilings and four poster beds. The staff were lovely and so helpful. Particularly enjoyed the free yoga session Mr Lal the manager gave me one morning - it was fabulous and I felt great afterwards (he is a great teacher and doing it with the sound of the sea is very relaxing).

Nice location and a natural view. The hotel facilities are very good. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The restaurant staff is very good and the food is delicious. The room boys are very nice and helpful.
