Breakfast was fine if a little basic. No problem parking, friendly helpful staff, good restaurant next door, convenient for Plane of jars. Good value for money. Interesting display of ordnance.

The shuttle service is included, which makes it really convenient. Mr. Yang‘s offer for guided tours is exceptionel.

The place was ok, quit if the Children at school . it is a family place …

I wanted to visit the Plain of Jars in Laos, which led me to Phonsavan. Staying at The Hillside Residence was an absolute stroke of luck. I was contacted in advance regarding pickup, as I was arriving late by bus. They also brought me to the airport at the end of my stay. Every morning, breakfast was freshly prepared for me at the exact time I requested the day before. They even arranged my preferred tour directly from the hotel, providing lots of information as well as unexpected highlights I hadn’t known about. I was shown how jewelry and souvenirs are made from old war remnants — something I would never have discovered on my own. The hotel owners truly took care of everything. I have never felt so well looked after. The room was lovely, and I slept incredibly well. My stay in Phonsavan was perhaps the highlight of Laos for me, and the hotel owners played a huge part in that. I can give nothing but an unconditional recommendation. Thank you so much!

It was exactly what I expected and a great value for the money. It was a little isolated, but there was one local restaurant right next door. They did a BRILLIANT job of arranging airport pickup and a visit to the Plain of Jars.

“Friendly good stay”

Friendly and everything we needed. We got a pick up from the airport and they brought us back. So would we recommend our friends to stay there? Yes.

The room was clean and well maintained. Hot water in the bathroom. The family running it were helpful and kind There is an interesting collection going up the stairs. They are happy to cook for you even though there is no restaurant advertised. The breakfast is eggs with ham & sausage. Crispy bread rolls, fruit, juice and tea or coffee. Free airport pick up and drop off. The driver will take you on tours to the local attractions. Short walk to other restaurants. We were there at the end of October and it was cool, particularly in the late afternoon and evening. Amazing value!

“Small quiet family run hotel...very welcoming”

This is a small hotel and the family live on site i think. So has a quiet feel. Nice balconies. The owner was generous and helpful. Not much English spoken but I felt very welcomed. Early hours e g.all quiet by 10pm. You can book tours of Plain of Jars etc. When I got lost in the evening (very dark), the owner who is always there waited for me -- very kind.

Peaceful, good breakfast, lovely outside area. Powerful shower, good hairdryer. Next door to Bombies restaurant which is a nice restaurant with lots of history about the secret war.

We really enjoyed the hillside residence. It is a very quiet place. The bedroom was comfortable and super clean. The staff is very nice and helpful. Good breakfast and the best laundry service in Laos!

Host was very welcoming and attentive throughout our stay. It is a short walk to the good Bombie Restaurant. There is a market and plenty of shops in walking distance. It is only 7km to The Jar site 1.

Lovely family run guesthouse. They picked us up from the bus station free of charge. Explained everything to do around the area and then provided the service for a day trip according to what we wanted. Young was a wonderful guide and driver and also took us to the Vietnam border for a fee, when we left. Great breakfast served when you wanted it also.
