Lovely, friendly staff and cute dogs. The room was clean and had everything you needed. There is also a free drinking fountain in the reception. The location was good and only a few minutes into the town centre.

The bed was wonderfully comfortable. The housekeeping staff was excellent. Complimentary ride service from the bus station and to the airport, on departure, was much appreciated.

Abay was very helpful as hotel manager. As a tour guide he provided valuable information about Xieng Khouang, the Plain of Jars and recent Lao history.

gratis Abholung, schönes Frühstück, guter Guide, Hilfsbereitschaft in der Organisation, Freundlichkeit As promised, Sipanya picked us up at the bus terminal in a limousine and stopped at a restaurant in the center of Phonsavan on the 5km way to the guesthouse so we could have dinner late. According to the guide named Souk, the two-story Sipanya Guesthouse was built only four years ago in a quiet location on the outskirts of town. All rooms are accessed via a wide covered walkway, which can also be used as a veranda with attractive iron chairs and small tables. Room size: approx. 20 sq m, varnished wooden floor, white walls and approx. 3 m height white ceiling. Double bed. Nescafé, two small bottles of water – no refrigerator. Free hot water with Nescafé sachets is available at reception. Room cleaning is available upon request. Bathroom with toilet & hot shower, toothbrushes, soap, kettle. Everything is neat and clean. The staff is friendly and attentive; communication with the reception staff was easy even without perfect English skills. A highlight of the Sipanya is the cozy restaurant in a separate building. The dining room is completely paneled in dark wood and is very comfortably furnished. Nice table decoration. Breakfast is offered with a selection of at least ten options. The quality and quantity are good. The staff is friendly and attentive. Value for money: good. We were the only guests here during our breakfast time. Since we only had one day planned for visiting the sites, we opted for a guided tour to sites 3, 2, and 1 in a 4x4 pickup truck from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM for approximately 80 km in total, including fuel. The biggest advantage for us was the local knowledge and the availability of a vehicle with fuel. On our own, we probably wouldn't have found the trails to some sites right away and would have lost a lot of time. Definitely recommended in our opinion.

“Excellent place to stay if visiting the Plain of Jars”

Clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Laundry service if required. Pickup and drop off at the airport. Booked two days of visits through the hotel to a variety of sites in the area. Each day tailored to my particular wishes. (As they were bespoke tours I did not share the costs, so they were a bit pricey, but my choice not to share with anyone else.) Breakfast available and has to be pre-ordered the evening before. Cold beer in the communal fridge downstairs. Walking distance to the town for restaurants, the market, and (limited) shopping.

The guesthouse booked me a full day tour with Souk, whose English is very good. He was very knowledgable and helpful. Communication with the guesthouse was very good altogether, which I appreciated.

We are very happy with the stay at Guesthouse and even more with the tour! Souk is an extremely knowledgable guide and with great insights to all the ongoing research at Plain of Jars! We were very interested in all the shared details :) It was one of the best tours we took on Laos! The location is very close to the center of town.

We had a great time at the Sipanya Hotel. What we enjoyed, of course, most outside of the hotel's amenities, was the two days spent with our guide Zuk. He introduced us to all the places of historical interest in the Phonsavan region. Zuk was very concerned about our well-being, very knowledgeable about the historical aspects of our visits, very moving and also, often, very funny. We highly recommend this hotel and its services.

We had an absolutely incredible stay at Sipanya Guesthouse in Phonsavan. Abe and his staff are truly amazing. It’s a warm, family-run guesthouse, and from the moment we arrived, we felt completely taken care of. They picked us up from the bus station and were constantly looking out for us and our kids throughout our stay. The hospitality here is next level. Everyone treated us like family. Abe organized fantastic tours for us and was an outstanding guide. His uncle, La was also incredible. We visited multiple Plain of Jars sites, the Spoon Village, the Stone Quarry, the Old Provincial Capital and even saw secret tunnels used by villagers during the Second Indochina War (the American War in Vietnam). The tours were informative, meaningful, and very well organized. We learned so much and felt completely safe the entire time. The guesthouse itself is very well run. The rooms are big and clean. Everything runs smoothly, and you can tell they genuinely care about their guests. We highly recommend staying at Sipanya Guesthouse if you’re visiting Phonsavan. It made our entire experience unforgettable.

“Cosy, clean, tranquil mountain stay.”

It's a very beautiful and spacious guesthouse. The rooms are cosy, clean and well equipped with a desk, a hot water kettle and racks for clothing as well as a bench to unpack. Rooms overlook a balcony that has a misty mountain view in the morning, I got a lovely sunrise view from my window. Staff are very responsive. Although Abay was away, he made sure I was well looked after and immediately had someone see to my room when I had some issues with the lock and sink. Airport pick up was very prompt and they also do airport drop off at additional charge which is very convenient. I recommend booking a tour with the guide Souk, either directly or via the guesthouse. I really appreciated how he allowed me to spend time at each site and never rushed me along. Very patient, funny and hospitable. Please keep in mind the location of this place and the economy situation of Phonsavan. The hot water system is a bit fussy, but its to be expected. Phonsavan is also at an elevation so it can get quite cold. The staff do their best and inquired several times if I needed extra blankets or if I had any issues with hot water.

They collected us from the airport and although the owner was away, we chatted on WhatsApp, which was very helpful as the staff didn’t have much English. They organised a tour with very informative Guide.

We had a wonderful stay at Sipanya Guesthouse! Abay is a very kind, professional, and polite tour guide. We joined his tour for two days — it was absolutely lovely and unforgettable, with many beautiful places to see around Phonsavan. The room was clean and comfortable, with a good bed and reliable Wi-Fi, which we really appreciated. Breakfast was also very nice and freshly prepared. Highly recommend both the guesthouse and Abay’s tours — they made our trip truly special!
