Overview
Boasting a private beach area and a terrace with views of the bay and Colombo’s skyline, Mount Lavinia Hotel offers a relaxing getaway. This colonial-style hotel features a spa and 3 dining options. It is the only hotel in Sri Lanka to provide with an underground historical tunnel tour and an in-built historical museum tour. Located on Mount Lavinia Beach, the hotel is 20-minute drive from the National Zoological Garden in Dehiwala. Driving from Bandaranaike International Airport takes an hour and 30 minutes. The rooms are built in true colonial style, fitted with dark wood furnishings, air-conditioning, satellite TV, private bathroom with bathtubs and shower facilities and tea/coffee making facilities that help you relax and unwind. Rooms with private balconies faces the bay and Colombo’s Skyline. The hotel is equipped with 24 hour travel desk, Gym, game room, business center and a shopping arcade. The Balinese spa at the beachfront is available for guests to relax with the private beach view. Fresh seafood can be enjoyed at “Seafood cove” on the sandy beach. International buffets are served at The Governors restaurant, while The Terrace offers local and international dishes.

“Disappointing”
This hotel is quite nostalgic for me and I remember it as a lovely old, grand hotel. It's in a beautiful position right on the beach with lovely views and a gorgeous place to watch the sunset with a cocktail by the pool.

Staff were friendly and helpful especially the staff in the restaurant. I can’t same the same about the staff managing the pool bar. We ordered a couple of sparkling wines for our sunset and they didn’t arrive. Order was given to the manager. Manager was sitting around doing nothing and not managing staff!

As always the hotel was amazing, the Mount Lavina hotel really appeals to those that like old style colonial charm , polished woodwork and fittings, you really can feel the history in this hotel , it’s more than just a hotel , the staff know how to pamper you .
