“A real piece of history, off the beaten track, quite a find!”

The property is off the beaten track but set in beautiful gardens and is wonderfully quiet. Only 5 bedrooms but this gives it a really intimate vibe and you are made to feel very valued as a guest. We were there in Late November so the pool wasn’t in use but the gardens are lovely to walk around. The rooms are very clean and the staff can’t do enough! Breakfast is adequate.

“A hidden gem between Salobrena and Motril”

Peaceful, elegant, and charming manor house just outside Salobrena. Our stay was just perfect. Our host exceeded our expectations.

The property was beautiful and had been carefully restored and decorated. We were welcomed by the manager who told us about the house's history. We were able to walk around the grounds which were a delight. Our room was spacious and benefitted from air conditioning. We would be very happy to stay again and have no hesitation in recommending this property.

It’s a lovely place , Stuart was very helpful and even booked us in to a local restaurant . The place has a fascinating history and is well placed for local attractions . We were fortunate to meet the owner and chat about the history .

Where do I start? Amazing place, set in an old house in gardens, stunning sunset with a lovely terrace. The inside of the house has some great period features, high ceilings, Julio the host is great and clearly takes pride in the guests and hotel. Very friendly cats in the grounds.

Fabulous place and gardens.. Stuart who met us on arrival was very pleasant and exceptionally helpful during our stay. We had prearranged an evening meal which was catered for our taste and one of the best meals we have had in Spain..

From the warm welcome, to the superb food, we couldn't have wished for anything more. What a beautiful place. We were the only guests staying, for a special anniversary celebration, and it was a great choice. We would thoroughly recommend Can de los Bates.

The house was very interesting with snippets of history about the family which the host kindly shared. It was nice to spend a moment in time to dream and imagine times gone by. The rooms were furnished like you would expect of the period and many features from a world before. The gardens were extensive and amazing with botanical variety from all over the world. Lots of spaces to cut yourself off and relax with the sound of fountains and frogs and birds or spend time with friends in beautiful surroundings where you could be anywhere you wanted to dream.
