The location is amazing, surrounded by nature with the best view on the Kilimanjaro. It is kind of remote but the organization for transport is very smooth and you will even be reminded to stop by in a supermarket :) We were warmly welcomed and treated very nicely. The food was amazing! There is a lot to discover around the area.

The staff were very hospitable and ensured our stay was amazing! Beatus was always available to offer guidance whenever necessary. We stayed there for the 2026 Kilimarathon. They made sure we were well fueled for the run! Balanced and tasty meals! Clean facility! Friendly staff! I'll defonitely go back!

Beaus and his team were very welcoming and offered a home feel. We arrived early hours of the morning and had pre booked a transfer and the driver was waiting for us outside the airport. We had breakfast, which was included with our booking and they offered lunch and dinner at a cost due to the location. We requested rooms with mountain views and this did not disappoint. We would definitely stay again.

The location is absolutely amazing with views of the Kilimanjaro! Our bedroom had views of the mountain and also the outdoor porch area where you have your breakfast has this stunning view. They also offer lunch and dinner for 10$ per meal per person. Also they offer pick up from and to the airport. We did a hike with them to the Materuni waterfalls which was a great experience. You walk from the hotel to the waterfall and back and it takes about 4 hours. Definitely recommend this hike!

This is a lovely place. The lovely roof Terrace looks straight at Mount Kilimanjaro and some rooms even face the mountain. The staff are lovely, the room was comfortable and I had the best hot shower in weeks. The owner is helpful and knowledgeable and can arrange many trips and excursions.

I recently stayed at Shimbwe Meadows Home and had an excellent experience. The hotel’s location is perfect — close to Kilimanjaro mountain in a quiet area, ensuring peaceful nights. The staff were exceptionally friendly and professional,always ready to assist with any request. Check‑in was swift and hassle‑free. My room was ,clean, and tastefully decorated in African style. It has a comfortable bed, and a well‑appointed bathroom. The daily housekeeping was thorough and discreet. Overall, Shimbwe Meadows Home exceeded my expectations. I would definitely stay again and highly recommend it to others.

The location is great and we had a great guide with us everywhere we went. The staff is exceptional and the food is good. Our room was very nice and the view is spectacular.

The stay was exceptional, with their services. This is the kind of stays that change your life. We were a family of 4. We were very well taken care of by Beatrice, the manager. We were supposed to go for materuni hike, but unfortunately we were not able to do it. Yet, we didnt regret a bit. Had good company of other guests. The food was phenomenal. The dinner was buffet with swhili food. On beautifully set table where all the guests sit together and eat. We all had a great time. In the morning, janet,one of the staff, showed us around the village and showed us some animals, which my kids thoroughly enjoyed. They plucked some fresh avocados and gifted us. Another staff, braided my girls hair. These are core memories for them. Thank you.

The hotel is 2 hours walking from Materuni Waterfall in the middle of the jungle, but what surprise most are the people and hospitality of the staff. Everything was perfect you feels like at home, location very quiet with amazing view, you can feel the jungle atmosphere. Breakfast, lunch and dinner homemade with locale products with an amazing taste. We had also the opportunity to have the excursion to the Waterfall with them, guide very prepared, explanation in perfect english. We really appreciated Chagga culture and people of the village, also the coffee experience. If you want to live a real experience and living in contact with Chagga people that's the right place. PS: the hotel organizes also safari around Tanzania

“Friendly, helpful staff in a beautiful location”

We had an incredible time here. The host was trustworthy, kind, and did everything possible to make our stay pleasant (he literally gave my wife the jacket he was wearing when she said she was cold). They run some great day trips around the area and up to Kilimanjaro and I would recommend them all. The place is isolated so you will need to eat at the hotel... luckily, the food is very good.
