Tldr: I couldnt have found a better place than Mkoani Homestay as a female traveler doing the first solo trip + a surprise birthday cake. And I will stay here everytime I visit Moshi from now on. - Amazing, warm and welcoming people, Darlie, Flora and girls will just make you feel like hone. Even the guests staying here were so nice - great location (quiet and green neighborhood, 5-10 min walking distance from two best cafes in town) - clean and comfortable rooms - beautiful interior and yard/garden with cutest cottages - delicious full breakfast - everyone ready to support you with whatever you night need, from 5 am check-in to adapter to drinking water to getting a taxi/bajaj to town to help with laundry or leaving your luggage here P.s. I accidentally mentioned it was my birthday in a week. And guess what I found when I came back after 8 days from Kilimanjaro trek? A birthday cake and the whole staff singing happy birthday to me. That was the sweetest sweeetest thing ever and I'll never forget it. Thank you everyone!

We had an lovely stay here. Stand out was the breakfast with fresh juice in the morning and the warm hospitality. Convenient location wise with tuktuks at the hotel and the nice jackfruit cafe within walking distance. Would recommend!

“A special first stay in Moshi with wonderful people and great energy”

This was my first stay in Moshi and it became truly special because of the amazing staff. They were incredibly kind and welcoming — we even became friends, and they took me to the local Moshi market and introduced me to traditional desserts, which was such a memorable experience. The place has a really beautiful energy. The land and large garden are lovely, and the atmosphere feels peaceful and welcoming. Breakfast is included and very good, and the team are always happy to help with anything you need, from transport to local advice. I stayed a few days and genuinely felt cared for, which made my first experience in Africa very meaningful.

Honestly it’s such great value and the team are amazing, kind and helpful. They made sure we were comfy and had a great time. The home cooked dinner was delicious which u can order every night, the rooms were stylish and they have the cutest dog Rolex who is friendly. The breakfast was delicious and there’s great excursion options.

We had a fantastic stay at Mkoani Accommodation in Moshi. We stayed there the day before our three-day hike to Mount Meru and immediately fell in love with the place and the warm hospitality. In fact, we booked to stay there again after our hike! The team was incredibly accommodating—they allowed us to store our belongings safely while we were on the trek at no extra charge. After returning, they kindly let us have a late check-out until 7 pm the next day for a small fee when our flight schedule changed. We highly recommend Mkoani Accommodation. It’s a wonderful spot to relax in a quiet, beautiful area of Moshi—perfect for resting and recharging after a demanding hike.

We chose this lovely homestay as our stop before starting the Mount Kilimanjaro hike, and it couldn’t have been better. The hosts welcomed us warmly and immediately made us feel at home. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet… just what we needed before the climb. They even made it super special for us with scattered rose petals, roses and wine, as we noted that we were on our honeymoon! The home-cooked dinner was a highlight of our stay: fresh and flavourful - and great value for such a hearty, authentic meal. Dee and her staff also helped us organize transportation and gave great local tips. Overall, this was the perfect place to rest, recharge, and experience genuine Tanzanian hospitality. We’d recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and welcoming stay near Kilimanjaro! Thank you Dee and team! :)

It's hard to put into words everything I loved about Mkoani. It became my home away from home when I came to Moshi to study at one of the local hospitals, KCMC. I stayed for over a month and there was something so special about the place. They treated me like a princess, making that lovely breakfast every day, greeting me with a smile and a "karibu" whenever I came home, rose petals on my bed. But at the same time they felt like family. Dee is absolutely wonderful and so beloved around Moshi, you can tell that by her wonderful, hand-picked staff and the whole ambiance of the place. Dee also ran my friends and I (staying in the local area for work, too) an incredible paint class with a delicious meal around the bonfire on one of my last nights, even just that one evening at Mkoani made them wish they'd stayed there the whole time!

A beautiful beautiful homestay. The property is very peaceful and an ideal location, with great cafes a short walking distance, and a short tuk tuk ride into town. Dee and the team are so lovely and helpful, and went out of their way to assist me and ensure I had a great time in Moshi. They invited me to a night out at their local karaoke spot, which was nice to experience with them as a female solo traveler.

The room was super comfortable and had everything you could possibly need to enjoy a short stay here. The surroundings are beautiful, and there are lots of lovely places to relax on the property. There are beautiful restaurants and cafes nearby that you can walk to, and a ride into town can be hailed easily. Breakfast was always fresh and delicious.
