Absolutely breathtaking , incredible views and good location

Thank you for your hospitality. We had a wonderful room with Kili view. Sylvester is a very good manager. We were lucky with the weather, and our day trips were amazing. The hotel has delicious food and, of course, coffee. Asante sana!

“Hidden Gem near Kili: Tours, Taste, and Unexpected Payment Drama”

Materuni Homes was one of a kind; staying there was a magical experience in itself. It was not easy to find, but the journey was absolutely worth it. Since we were self-driving, the property kindly sent someone to pick us up nearby in Moshi town. The road, however, was challenging for foreign drivers like us, and it probably would have been better navigated by a 4x4 vehicle. We had booked a bigger room, which did not have the direct view of Mount Kilimanjaro. Despite this, the room was clean and comfortable. The dining room is an open-air area. In the morning, they prepare breakfast with a stunning view of Kilimanjaro, weather permitting. We were so lucky to experience this; the next day was cloudy, and Mount Kili was completely hidden behind the clouds. Lunch and dinner are also served here, paid for separately. Since the location is literally in the middle of nowhere, you can't really eat anywhere else. Fortunately, the food was absolutely delicious—truly some of the best we have ever encountered! They also serve vegetarian meals. The restaurant is a popular lunch destination for other tourists visiting the Materuni Waterfall or doing the coffee tour at Materuni Homes. We took the hike to the waterfall, and it was really magical. The coffee tour was also great; they explained a lot about the history, the plantation process, and the traditional way of roasting, grinding, and making the coffee. Our guide, Sylvester, did a fantastic job explaining and answering all of our questions throughout the tours. At the end, you get to taste the freshly roasted coffee—oh my, it was so delicious! Aside from these tours, Materuni Homes also provides a cooking class, which we unfortunately did not have enough time to check out.

We loved staying at Materuni! The view from the accommodation onto Mount Kilimanjaro was amazing, the staff was very friendly and helpful (shoutout to Sylvester!), the rooms were clean and spacious, and the food was delicious!

Wonderful place with an epic view on both Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. The staff is very friendly and made us feel welcome. We did the waterfall and coffee tour with them, which was a very nice day trip.

A Magical Experience with the Chagga Tribe This was our favourite place to stay out of all six hotels during our three-week trip — and for good reason. The views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru are absolutely breathtaking, and the staff are just incredible. Nothing was too much trouble, and their warm, welcoming nature made us feel right at home. Before our arrival, we had a lot of questions, and the communication beforehand was excellent — quick, clear, and very informative. They gave such a good first impression, and we could tell it was going to be a great stay thanks to how attentive they were even before we arrived. They also arranged our onward taxi to the airport in a very nice, comfortable car, making our journey stress-free from start to finish. The home-cooked food was delicious, everything was spotless, and the beds were wonderfully comfortable. We’ll be recommending Materuni Homes to all our family and friends. We especially loved spending time with the Chagga tribe, particularly Sylvester, who looked after our every need during our stay. He was brilliant with our 7-year-old son and made us all feel relaxed in his company. Unlike the Maasai, the Chagga tribe may not wear traditional dress daily, but they keep their ancient customs and culture alive in beautiful ways. They welcomed us into their village with open arms, sharing breathtaking mountain views, mouthwatering local dishes, and the stunning Materuni Waterfall. One highlight was the “tree-to-cup” coffee experience — they guided us through every step, showing how singing together makes the hard work lighter and more joyful. Their warmth, humour, and strong sense of community made it an experience we’ll never forget… and yes, the coffee was absolutely delicious 😋 A heartfelt thank you to Sylvester and the whole team at Materuni Homes for making our stay so memorable. You made us feel part of your family, and we’ll carry those memories with us always.

Beautiful, peaceful location. Wonderful, friendly staff and community, especially our knowledgeable guide Sylvester and lovely chef Anna. We loved this immersive cultural experience in a unique, remote place. The accommodation has amazing views over mount Kilimanjaro when the clouds lift.

The surroundings are amazing. When clear the view of the Kilimanjaro is fabulous but remember this is a shy moutain.

“Amazing hotel with breathtaking views”

The property has stunning views, breathtaking. We staying only for one night but I would definitely be back. The room was very clean and large. The hosts cooked a very delicious and tradicional food when we arrived hungry at 23:00. We can’t thank them enough for that. He also shared interesting stories about his tribe and culture and about the region. No complains here, everything was amazing.

“Best place in Moshi!”

I simply loved everything about my stay. Consolata and her team go above and beyond to facilitate everything. To make sure I find the way easily I was picked up in Moshi, special requests like late dinner, late check out and others were happily accommodated. The food was delicious and everyone is so friendly. The room is spacious, clean and got everything you need. The bed is so warm and comfortable. The view and the sunset next to Kilimanjaro are just stunning. I wish I could have stayed longer.

I loved everything! I spent one night when I landed in Tanzania, and felt like I spent a week :) All the people were really sweet, and Sylvester is amazing ! We went to the waterfall and did coffee experience, food was amazing, accommodation was great with a magical view on Kilimandjaro ! The road is an adventure to get up there, but totally worth it 🙏 Thank you and hope to see you again

“Wholesome Exerience”

Perfect view of Mt Kilimanjaro. Besides the breakfast, they made us awesome traditional meals. Materuni Homes is a whole experience besides a comfortable stay. The green gardens, hike down to the waterfall, view of the mountain while having a drink or just sipping a coffee freshly brewed from the kitchen.

Small, cosy and Beautiful located hotel in Mataruni village. Only a few kilometer form Kilimanjaro national park. The rooms ar big, clean and confortabel, the food is really nice and the staff is 10/10! Sylvester was a perfect host and guide, and made us feel at home. If you are looking for the perfect the view of the rainforest and Kilimanjaro, this is it!
