“Peaceful onsen escape, approachable for international travellers new to ryokan culture”

Wonderfully relaxing stay in this peaceful onsen. We had a private bath in our room, and also enjoyed the communal onsen that were wonderfully maintained. We did both dinner and breakfast, both of which were delicious and featured local cuisine, and they have an excellent drinks list feauturing many local sake brands. The local bus route to and from Morioka station is the best way to arrive if your times match up, otherwise it's about a 7000yen/25min taxi ride. The complimentary maitake mushroom 'tea' in the room was so delicious we all had to buy a tin in the gift shop before departure!

All the staff, both at the front office and breakfast area, were very friendly and professional. We loved the kaiseki dinner and breakfast. We also experienced a 6.6 earthquake during our stay, and the staff handled the situation very well, remaining calm, well-trained, and reassuring throughout

“A place to spoil yourself”

Bespoke feel, beautiful setting with outdoor onsen nestled against forest trees. The staff looked after us really well and made sure we could travel around the region with ease. Kaiseiki style meals are prepared with excellent produce. We were offered little food packets to feed the delightful little red carps that swam to us eagerly.

We loved our stay. I wanted a smaller, traditional Ryokan and this was exactly what I had in mind. Food was amazing, staff were so helpful and friendly and the onsen was beautiful. We went three times during our 24hour stay to the onsen and I was so sad to leave. I really wanted an outdoor onsen with a natural feel to it and this was perfect.

I really enjoyed my stay here. What I loved the most was the traditional Japanese room and the fact that you could wear a yukata right away. It was such a special experience. The food was also excellent, beautifully presented and very tasty. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive. It truly felt like stepping back in time. You could really feel the old charm of Japan throughout the whole place. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience authentic Japanese culture.

The service and staff were all top tier. We also really enjoyed the meals. Experiencing the traditional kaiseki breakfasts and dinner were extremely memorable for us. The private dining rooms were exceptionally special.
