This was our favourite place to stay during our trip to Costa Rica. Ernesto was so accommodating, he recommended where to go in the cloud forest and helped us with arranging shuttles. Breakfast was also delicious, and we saw a group of capuchin monkeys and a coati at the property!

Good breakfast, loved the mot mot birds that perched on the fence outside our bedroom morning and evening with the insects in their beaks that they had caught for their chicks. Nice breakfast in the morning. Rooms were nice although the floor to ceiling glass patio windows mean that you either need to not be shy or keep the curtains closed! Owner spoke good english. Centrally located, value for money. Suitable for families, couples etc. Would reccommend and would use again.

There are many highlights to mention: The accommodation is in a fantastic location, at the end of a shopping street lined with restaurants and supermarkets. Despite this, it’s in a quiet area and offers a wonderful view of nature from the terrace, where the host serves breakfast. Not far from the accommodation is Santa Elena National Park, which is ideal for hiking. Nearby is also the meeting point for the night hike through the transition forest—an experience we highly recommend. The host is extremely friendly and helpful and has great tips for nearby activities. Breakfast offers a fantastic selection and high quality.

“Beautiful place to stay in Santa Elena”

We loved staying here and were sad to go. It was so lovely in Monteverde, and the hotel was perfect. Definitely the favourite place we have stayed in Costa Rica. The apartment with the balcony was amazing. It had everything we could want and was spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was very good. The best part was being able to look at all the birds in the trees outside, even while sitting in bed, or sitting on the balcony. Listening to the dawn chorus sitting on the balcony was the perfect start to the day and seeing a motmot so close every day was a treat. The apartment with the terrace was also a beautiful apartment with a huge comfy bed and the seating on the terrace was nice on a warm day. Ernesto was so helpful and kind, especially when one of our tour pick ups did not arrive, and the pancakes or toast and eggs with a plate of fruit were delicious. The town of Santa Elena is only a few minutes walk away, and there is easy parking if you are driving. I would recommend this place to anyone staying in Monteverde.

Great central location and breakfast on balcony adjacent to rainforest despite being 3 mins walk from centre. Host was very helpful.

The hotel is located in a quiet area but close to town. We loved our room, so big and bright, very clean and comfortable. There're a lot of animals in the garden, I could totally sit there all day watching them. Ernesto is really nice, the breakfast was good. I just wished I had booked an extra night. Such a lovely place! The Canton 83 soda near by is ok, but we found the little takeaway place right next to it is much better! Give it a try. :)

Nice spot, nice hot showers, very clean and great views off the deck for birding. They even made us breakfast early for us to leave to birdwatch.

Ernesto runs a comfortable and very welcoming B&B, the comfortable rooms and long wooden terrace make it feel like a small boutique lodge. He is a perfect host helpful and willing to help, the location is ideal for going into Monteverde in the evening. The plentiful birdlife around the house is a bonus.

Beautifully presented room, plenty of space for storage. Excellent coffee provided together with coffee machine. Ernesto was very helpful and friendly and would have booked activities for us if we needed. Good breakfast with a choice, prepared freshly. Excellent location, convenient and quiet with a Coati family living outside. We would highly recommend staying here.
