“Lovely old hotel in a great location”

Lovely hotel with stunning views. Breakfast was great and the staff were great too. Perfect location for exploring a lovely town with nice shops and restaurants. 2 things to note but not negative!! Do not follow google maps if coming from Sienna and they send you up a farm track, turn back to the main road or you will regret as we did!! Secondly avoid the split level room unless you’re ok with steep stairs. We had to change and the staff could not have been more understanding!!

Montalcino is beautiful and Dei Capitani hotel is a wonderful place to stay. The view from the terrace where we had our breakfast was just breathtakingly beautiful and you can also appreciate it from the swimming pool. Breakfasts were just excellent. Rooms were comfortable and pretty. It makes a difference which side of the hotel you stay at, as half of the hotel enjoys the same beautiful views as the terrace. The streets around are very steep and there is not much space for cars (as should be expected in Montalcino :-)). It was a little bit stressful to park the car in front of the hotel (even just for a short pick up) as there was little space and surprisingly there was some traffic :-) The hotel has some parking places right next door, but I was with a big car (7 passengers) and my car didn't fit. However, the hotel offered a place to keep the car at a public parking at the entrance to the town center, which was 5 minutes walk and OK.

A very good breakfast, with a fantastic view. The same view you get from the swimming pool. The staff is really helpful and nice. Our room was spacious.

Hotel with nice atmosphere and views over the surrounding landscape. Everything in town easy to reach as well as dozens of wine estates in the area. Very helpful staff.
