We loved our stay in Montagu in this beautiful self-contained cottage. While it adjoins the owners house, there is a sense of privacy with great outdoor seating. The facilities are all that one needs and it is really special to be in a residential area where you can get a feel of what it is like to actually live in this delightful village. Everything is within walking distance, including a great hike up a canyon to hot springs from just at the end of the road. We went on a History and ghost tour on bicycles with the lovely Marchelle and this was riveting; informative, entertaining and fascinating. We also joined a local community Sunset hike which gave us further insight into local lives and people. There is plenty to do and great food and drink, and the scrambled egg at the Rambling Rose was "spot on."

Lovely spacious old-style cottage. Comfortable bed, well appointed kitchen area, very nice bathroom. Access to private backyard area. Safe off-street parking and a lovely mountain view from the front yard. The host was brilliant! Friendly, approachable and helpful. She made us feel right at home from the offset and shared her local knowledge which helped us a lot during our stay. We will definitely stay at Krom Cottage again next time we're in Montague.

The place was spacious and the kitchen had everything we needed—and more. The location was perfect, within walking distance of town and close to the mountain for hiking. We also enjoyed the braai area at the back and the seating in front with secure parking.

One of the highlights for me was the thoughtful extras provided – especially the delicious muesli and yogurt, and the rusks. The smell of the linen and towels were amazing. I also really appreciated the local town maps and information left for guests. It made exploring the area so much easier and gave the stay a personal touch that’s often missing from other accommodations. Overall, a peaceful and pleasant retreat with all the little details taken care of. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to unwind.

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at this little coy cottage in Montagu, and it was everything we could have asked for and more. The moment I picked up my wife at the airport coming from Abu dhabi, to the moment we arrived she said it felt like home warm, cosy, and intimate. It’s the perfect hideaway for a couple looking to unwind, or anyone needing a quiet, comfortable escape. Affordable, yet filled with charm and comfort every little detail of the cottage was thoughtfully done. Montagu itself is a treasure. The town feels like a blend between a quaint French village and a Swiss mountain town, surrounded by stunning scenery that comes alive especially in the colder months. There’s a romantic, peaceful atmosphere throughout, with friendly locals, unique little shops, and the kind of slow, serene pace that makes you want to stay forever. We left feeling rested, inspired, and already dreaming about when we can return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something truly special.
