“Interesting accommodation is a magically little town.”

Sensational little town, so pretty right on the water. Accommodation was quiet and quaint. Right in the middle of the town, short drive to excellent supermarket. Easy to get into Amsterdam by bus, around 20 minutes. Short drive to lovely Volendam and interesting Marken Island.

Cute and quirky little place, tucked away in the lovely village of Monnickendam. Perfect for myself and my 5 yr old. I felt very safe (which is rare for a solo traveller with a small child). Due to the size I'd say it's only suitable for a single person, couple or parent and 1 child. Plenty of pots, pans, cutlery and general kitchen equipment. I couldn't work the electric grill or coffee machine but that's definitely my issue. Small fridge with little freezer, microwave, gas oven, gas hobs, shower and bath. Supermarket within walking distance (5-10 mins depending on your pace) and when they ran out of carrier bags, realising I was a tourist, allowed me to take a basket to return the next day. Monnickendam itself is beautiful: it has lots of lovely restaurants and cafe's, a good bakery and butchers, nice canal walks and a lovely children's play park near the supermarket. Good transport links to Amsterdam - you can take the 315 or 111 direct to Amsterdam Noord and then it's two stops on the Metro 52 to Amsterdam Centraal. They use bank card/phone payments on the buses and pre-paid tickets on the metro, trains and trams, you can buy a 1 hr or 24 hour ticket with unlimited use (just make sure you tap in and out at both sides whichever mode of transport you are using). It's very easy to get to the airport, again take the 315 or 111 to Amsterdam Noord, take the Metro 52 from Amsterdam Noord to Amsterdam Zuid and then the Intercity train to Schipol (all in all it takes just over an hour). There are lots of lovely places to visit nearby including Marken, Volendam and I can highly recommend the outdoor museum in Arnhem but we were lucky to be driven to these places by friends that live close by.

Location was great - in the centre of the old town. The small cosy place was easy to look after. A good place to stay rather than a hotel as there are all the facilities to cook etc which a hotel does not have.

The room is super cosy, we felt home very quickly in this place. We found everything we needed and it was a very comfortable place to recover from the long walks in Amsterdam. The neibourhood is super lovely. I will come again!
