Eugenia was very friendly and made me feel very comfortable. She even helped me book a guide to hike Oceta. The view from my room was breath taking and I throughly enjoyed my time here (even extended an extra day)! 🌟🩵😄

“A peaceful mountain respite”

“Mixed review - Don’t expect to use the kitchen and you’ll be fine!”
Nice house, clean & tidy, good bucolic location, good WiFi. The room was nice, cozy & comfortable. However, I found the hostess very over-bearing. On Booking, it states there is a communal kitchen and I made my booking in part because of that. When I tried to use it the first time to boil water for coffees, I got the distinct impression I was stepping on toes. So I confirmed that the kitchen was communal, as per the listing. She said yes, but I needed to pay 5,000 for the gas (not stated anywhere when booking). Fine. Then she said we weren’t allowed to drink our coffees in our rooms. Fine. When I tried to use the kitchen later, I again felt uncomfortable as she came swooping in to help me (which I didn’t need). Kitchen was locked in the AM the next morning. Any time the hostess heard someone in there, she would come rushing in. I’d like to say it was out of kindness to help me find things, but it really didn’t feel like that. When preparing dinner the 2 nights, she literally sat in the corner of the kitchen and watched us. In general, it was an unpleasant experience. I would recommend the place only if you plan to eat out or if you plan to have the hostess prepare your meals. I would absolutely not recommend the place if you want to cook for yourself.

Eugenia was so kind and very welcoming, always ready to help! the place was super clean and very calm. They also offer delicious breakfast for a great price with their own homemade cheese!! It is a 10minute walk from the main plaza, which allows you to be just outside the town center and feel a little more in the mountains, a 20minute walk to a really nice river. 100% reccomend!

Very familial atmosphere, I enjoyed the conversations and the warm welcome. It feels more like a homestay than a hotel. The place is very quiet with a nice view. You can get very tasty homemade meals there for a very good price. Also the hosts have contacts to guides to the páramo. Highly recommended.

Great location : The hostel is located at 10min walk from the main square, in a pedestrian street. Thus the place is very calm, with beautiful view. Eugenia and Joaquim were great hosts, we felt like at home ! The house is very clean

The stay was great, felt like visiting a family for a weekend:). Eugenia and her husband are really friendly and can give you a ton of recommandations for activities in Mongui. Eugenia offers also delicious food, so it doesn't matter so much, you can't really use the kitchen by yourself. Also the tour to paramo with guide Felix provided by the hostel was great! Muchisimas gracias!🤗
