“Uncomfortable Atmosphere Due to the Owner”

We generally had a good stay at Ocean Breeze Hostel. The hostel is well located, clean, and overall a nice place to stay. The staff members working there were also all very kind and friendly. However, there was one thing that made us feel very uncomfortable during our stay: the owner/manager. We honestly never understood if we had done something wrong, but her attitude towards us was often very unfriendly and unpredictable. Every time we returned to the hostel, we felt nervous about how we would be received — sometimes with a big smile, but unfortunately most of the time in a very snappy or cold manner. Occasionally we were not even greeted at all. There were several situations that left a bad impression on us: throwing the breakfast menu onto the table, rolling her eyes, entering our room and scolding us even though check-out was only at 11am, and making comments because we booked a tour elsewhere instead of through the hostel. One morning we had already placed our backpacks outside because we planned to go diving, but the dive got cancelled, so we went back to rest in the room before check-out time — which seemed to annoy her a lot. Another example was one evening when I was simply sitting on the terrace talking quietly with a friend. She came over to ask whether we were guests, and after I answered, she just sighed in an annoyed way and walked off. Small interactions like this made us constantly feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. Overall, the atmosphere often felt tense and frustrated, which is a shame because the hostel itself actually has a lot of potential and could otherwise be a really wonderful place to stay. Another thing worth mentioning: breakfast only starts at 9am. Depending on what activities or tours you plan to do in Moalboal, this is not always very practical since many tours start earlier. You can choose one breakfast dish, which was very tasty, but it is not really a café-style breakfast included as it may appear online.

The staff were very welcoming and the bed was comfortable. Good AC but turned off during the day. Good breakfast options and if you walk less than a minute you are on the main road of shops/ bars etc.

“First birthday solo trip!”

The ambiance outside, room is spacious for me cause I'm tiny bed is comfy. Staff are accommodating. They maintained as much as possible to clean the toilet. Recommended for solo traveller! Worth the price!

Ester and her team do a great job, they are kind and accomodating. The desserts they make at the shop are fantastic and are a nice way to end a day touristing. I really enjoyed my time chatting with Rosa and hope everyone goes and supports this wonderful woman and her business!

Super comfortable. Clean bathroom. Quiet considering it’s in a great area. Great WiFi as well. We’re a backing couple and it was perfect for us. Great breakfast included in the rate as well!

Bedroom was comfortable and good shower. WiFi good. Location next to the Main Street. Staff friendly and helpful. Restaurant food tasty.

Extremely nice staff, totally recommend them. 3 people bedroom was located a bit outside from the main building, clean and well quipped with water tank. Brand new AC, no mold smell. Hotel is almost in the middle of the center.
