“Exceptional”
Wonderful experience from the moment we entered the hotel until sadly we had to leave. The great care and attention of all the staff was exceptional. The food was outstanding and a highlight of the stay. We particularly appreciated the efforts of the owner who was so kind and welcoming and appeared at dinner each evening to sing us a local folk song. Chen on reception was particularly helpful and even came with us to the bus stop (opposite the hotel) to wave us goodbye. The onsens were all fantastic, especially the private hilltop one which is worth paying the extra for if couples or a family would like an hour outdoors in the most beautiful surroundings. We enjoyed a walk to the nearest village and saw the impressive vine bridge both by day and night. If you’re looking for relaxation and tranquillity away from everything then it’s an ideal area in Shikoku and. A really special hotel

“Excellent ryokan with attentive staff and great onsens”
Attentive staff, excellent open-air onsens, clean rooms and facilities. We were lucky to get “Tenjin” room with private open air onsen and we cant be more happy. It was perfect size for couple, with onsen in backyard with stunning views. Ryokan meals were a bit to much for my wife so we sometimes skip dinner because of it, but everything were delicious and prepared with care and attention to allergies.

All the staff including front desk, concierge, driver, restaurant are very polite and professional. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and memorable. The complimentary night tour was a pleasant surprise. The owner of the hotel was very hospitable going from table to table during dinner to chat with the guests and also not forgetting the lovely song she sang for us. The outdoor onsen was very unique as we had to take a cable car to the onsen which also had beautiful scenery enhanced by the sakura season. The location is abit far but the bus stops right in front of the hotel and the staff was outside to receive the guests and help with luggage as soon as the bus arrived. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay.

“A wonderful stay”
The room is big and comfortable with good facilities. The hot water and cold water are ready for the guests to drink. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly that made you feel comfortable. The special outdoor onsen is linked by the hotel private cable car. You can look at the view of the surrounding mountains. The food is tasty 🤤

“Fantastic onsen hotel with beautiful views and superb service”
Booked this hotel for the location in the iya valley and the onsen. It is just a 3min drive from the Iya valley vine bridge. But the hotel itself is a destination worth visiting itself. The onsen were superb. Well maintained with a quaint funicular train up the hill to the open air onsen that had great views of the mountains. Food was good quality. I particularly liked the multiple methods of preparing the ayu (river fish). The room itself was a very comfortable and quite newly renovated tatami room with all the typical ryokan amenities. Staff were not just polite but friendly and welcoming. English and Mandarin both spoken here - so that is very helpful for travelers.

Nice quite location near the vine rope bridge. Hotel looked insipid on the outside but the rooms were luxurious. Had nice outdoor onsen which was accessible only a furnicular tram. During dinner, the owner and manager came to entertain the guests.

“A luxurious ryokan experience in the spectacular Iya valley.”
Beautiful room. Amazing onsen with a short cable car ride up the hill. We enjoyed using the private onsen as a family. The dinner was extravagant in the traditional ryokan style. It may be difficult to access for some - we booked a taxi tour for 1.5 days and arranged transfer back to the station which was quite easy. I believe there is a bus to Oboke station but not sure how easy the transfer times are.
