The location right on the water was very nice and it was comfortable to have a whole house to ourselves. It suited our needs and budget. After we found a large cockroach, the owner quickly provided us with bug spay. It was good to have use of a washing machine but the washing hanger was broken and difficult to hang all our washing.

We had a great time in Aoshima. The home is a Japanese house with western beds. It's Japan, so things are cramped (not much space around the furniture in the bedrooms), we were expecting it, so all good. The kitchen is well furnished and the host was quick to help us with any question or special request. The bath was deep and kept the temperature for a long time. Even though we had a car, everything was walking distance (7-Eleven, restaurants, bento shops, train station, the sea, Aoshima shrine). We used our car to go around Miyazaki prefecture. There are also many onsens around Aoshima, which is great.
