It was a cute little stay, a good place to stay if you want to be tucked away as there’s not much on the island other than the beaches. The staff were very nice and helpful

If you like to socialze and if you sort out your transportation needs, ideally by renting a car or scooter - definitely

Te-chan and Hitomi are simply the best, they deserve all the glaze they get in the reviews - and more. Accomodations like these are incredibly rare, where you instantly feel like home and just wish you could stay forever. Te-chan and Hitomi are incredibly approachable and more proficient at English than they would like to admit, so if your Japanese is still somewhat lacking, you really do not need to worry at all, you‘ll actually feel like your skills will have improved by the end of your stay, since there‘s no better way to practice speaking than sitting with everyone who’s there on the Tatami mats having a chat in the evenings. The House is more of a traditional Okinawan architecture and so are the sorroundings, just what you want if you go out all the way to Miyako ;) That said it does have everything you might need, like a well equipped kitchen, shower room area and living room, as well as washing machines. The small island Kurima itself is perfectly explorable by foot within a day and you‘ll have plenty of beaches around, which - if lucky - you‘ll have all to yourself. Crossing over the bridge to get to and from Miyakojima is also something quite beautiful. Pick up and drop off at the Airport are also easily organized, so proximity to the airport shouldn’t be a deal breaker, even if your flight leaves early in the morning, don’t worry! Just don’t forget to tell them in advance if you want to have dinner together! ^^

A fairytale getaway surrounded by nature

The owner is truly special. You must try their cooking and go snorkeling with them! I loved the family-like atmosphere in the shared tatami room, the mosaic-bazin with the bird-taps, the tiny decorations and memories everywhere. It was awesome and very convenient renting the owner's motorbike, and ride around Miyakojima with it! You can see the stars as there is no light pollution on the island! And the sunset is also beautiful from a hotel nearby.

Lovely, happy and warm family atmosphere!

My stay here was incredible! I felt like I was treated like family and I made some wonderful memories here. It was so comforting to stay here and it was close to some wonderful snorkel spots. I was even treated to a birthday cake and song. That really touched me. I didn't expect that at all for my birthday as I've been travelling alone. I loved the location and I loved the vibes and family atmosphere of Hotel Hibiscus. Also the traditional food the host cooked for us was delicious! I want to say thank you for making my stay in Miyakojima the best. I'm definitely coming back again! (Bonus: At night you can see the Milky Way clearly on Kurima island!)

Fantastic place I could not have asked more Higly recommended

Hibiscus is a wonderful place to stay The location is tranquil The guesthouse is in the nature and walking distance from one of the best beaches for snorkelling (tako park) and the viewing point (ryogujo observatory) Nearby are several small caffès and dinner places The house is very welcoming and friendly It’s spotless clean and extremely well managed The staff is amazing The level of attention is of a 4\5 stars hotel (and I’ve been in a few for work or holiday) They are so attentive than is incredible (I.e they noticed a small scratch on my leg I made during scuba diving and I didn’t even realised and they brought me a plaster) The owner is friendly, funny, professional and run the place very well with the best snorkelling tour I ever had (and been in Thailand, Cuba, Mexico, few Caribbean islands etc), there are delicious homemade dinners and barbaque Is a very relaxed friendly atmosphere where you can chat in the big leaving room with the other guests and staff after dinner choosing alcoholic and not alcoholic drinks from the fridge: you just sign what you took and will be charged at the checkout In the morning you’ll be asked if you want to join them for the daily activity: dinner, barbaque or snorting for a small fee Also the airport transfers are at a very reasonable price Almost all the guests are Japanese, but even with my very limited Japanese I felt so welcomed by everyone I’ll never forget those 4 days at hibiscus and the great people I meet I highly recommend it and I hope I can come back in the future

Perfect place to unwind & disconnect

This was probably one of my favorite accommodations that I stayed in Japan. Super remote island with beautiful beaches all around. It's a very homely guest house with a friendly host which took us snorkeling and around the main Island when it was raining.
