Excellent staff and ideal location.

“Best Hospitality”

I have had the pleasure of staying at Koa for a week, and realized how Koa has a top rating everywhere. I dont often write reviews, but their kindness and hospitality gave me great experience, and I decided to write one. 1. Super friendly & helpful staff : I did not rent a car.(no license) After the staff noticed that, they offered to drive me to lunch, supermarket, and even the airport. Always checked if I need food or drinks. They are very thoughtful and kind. 2. Tours : There are snorkeling, boat, city tours and they are offered at rates lower than online. They also know great spots, know the ocean well. They take photos or videos for you with GoPro as well. 3. Nice cozy and clean rooms : Rooms are kept clean, air conditioned, and at low rates. I will visit Miyako again next year, and I hope to see the staff Atsushi and Pao again. I hope all the best for Koa.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. A good location within walking distance to Sunayama beach. The Guesthouse offers lots of extras such rental equipment, snorkelling tours, and snacks and drinks to purchase on site. Quiet location. Facilities were very clean and well maintained. Would definitely stay again!

We loved the outdoor space, the parking, the coffee, and how kind everyone was. The taxi ride is quite short into town.

Atsushi and Pao were extremely helpful and kind. They take good care of their guests and make them feel at home. This is definitely a family friendly establishment where domestic tourists and international (inboundos as they call us ;) ) can meet and connect. As there's not a lot going on at night in Miyakojima, the guest house is great place to unwind, drink with other guests and play board games. We even were able to organise our own barbecue party. We also highly recommend the yabaji excursion. One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

The team working at the guesthouse is super friendly and helpful. The master of the house also organizes activities like snorkeling. It was amazing. The rooms are clean and comfy with AC. Note that the guesthouse is located close to Sunayama Beach, a known place on Miyakojima but no mass tourism. However, it s outside the city centre and you need either a bike or a car to reach the place. There are 2 nice cafes nearby as well.

This is a basic accommodation in nature, offering a peaceful retreat. We loved the beautiful resting place outside, perfect for relaxing. The shared kitchen has a lot of amenities free for use, and Atsushi-san makes coffee and jasmine tea every day. The staff were absolutely lovely and incredibly friendly. They made our stay enjoyable and are offering a range of services from massages to snorkelling. We had an exciting snorkelling adventure with Pao-san. It was amasing, thank you so much! A word of advice to fellow travellers: it's mandatory to have a car if you want to explore the island and nearby attractions. The location is quite remote, so having your own transport will make your experience much more convenient and enjoyable. Also, be prepared for the humidity and bugs, even in the room, as the guest house is situated in the heart of nature. It's part of the charm, but having some insect repellent handy is a good idea. Overall, if you're looking for a serene and authentic island experience with lovely staff and a variety of activities, this is a good choice. “An unforgettable place to enrich your journey!”

When you go on your travels overseas, every interaction, exchange and experience adds to that journey. And at Guesthouse Koa, it is where your journey becomes so much richer and memorable. The rooms are super clean and well furnished. We stayed in the individual chalets so it was with your own washroom and shower but the shared ones for the individual rooms are super clean and functional as well. The beds are comfortable and big for a couple. The location is near a popular beach with a beautiful sunset! To travel round the island, you can rent a car from the property which is super convenient for the guest. The staff, their occasional friends and even other guests are what make Guesthouse Koa that much more special! The well furnished common areas allow people to spend quality “me” time or interact with staff and guest to enrich your journey. Atsushi-san and his staff have created a really special stay on island for travellers! Thank you so much!

“Quiet, clean, decent room for short stay”

The room and property were very well-kept and extremely clean, and the amenities were excellent. There were both bath towels and beach towels, coffee and tea, and kitchen space with a refrigerator. There was plenty of parking space, and the property itself was really nice, with outdoor areas to sit and relax and lots of plants and green - it was a very quiet, relaxing, and pleasant atmosphere. The room looked very new, the decor was quite cute, and there was a nice vanity with mirror, which was very appreciated. The staff members we spoke to were also quite friendly and kind. Although I myself used Japanese with them, it did seem they could speak some English which travelers from abroad will appreciate.

“Friendly staff and great snorkeling experience”

Very friendly staff! All the staff feel like a family and the guests as well - good vibes! The guesthouse also provides snorkeling experience and rental for snorkeling equipment which is very convenient. It was my first time snorkeling and I felt very safe and had lot of fun! The house and room are quite basic but clean. The common room has a lot of amenities free for use, such as cookwares and washing machine, and the staff makes coffee and jasmine tea every day. The guest house is also very close to Sunayama beach which is pretty. There aren’t too many walkable options for food, apart from a nice cafe that opens for lunch and afternoon. So it’s better to rent a car or rent a bike like what we did!

“A warm and welcoming environment, would definitely come back!”

Atsushi, Mayu and Pao were very welcoming and made me feel right at home, despite me being unable to speak Japanese! The place is very clean and has all the amenities you need for a short/long stay. The snorkelling tour and the tour around the island were very good - Atsushi took us to some very cool spots which I may not have found on Google maps. I will definitely come back here if I return to Miyako - P.S. Iru is so cute!

This was a fantastic stay in a guesthouse, with very friendly hosts - especially Atsushi-san and Pao-san! It's very welcoming and well fitted out, with plenty of advice for what to do and where to go on the island. A bonus was freshly roasted coffee every morning by Atsushi-san. They have a lovely island dog, Iru-chan, who quickly made friends with us after some scratches, 10/10 good boy. We also went on the snorkelling tour of Yabiji, which was a great half day out with some fantastic pictures and all round fun.

We loved everything about this place! Atsushi and staff were absolutely amazing - so friendly and helpful, Atsushi even took us snorkelling! The place is cozy, clean and very close to a small beach. We had everything we needed and more during our stay and would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking to stay on miyako island! They also have a very cute dog and offer a car rental service which you definitely need to make the make of the island.

The guesthouse is very well maintained, so clean. The common kitchen is indeed the kitchen of the owner, so tou have everything you need to cook. The owner is doing an excellent coffee everyday that he is offering. His passion for coffee is shared with the guests. The staff is so nice and helpful. You feel really welcome. Traveling since 6 months, this stay stands apart, a so nice atmosphere. Rhey also organise activities such as snorkling which were just fantastic
