“Peaceful beautiful and unforgettable!”

We loved everything about our two nights stay at Iwaso. The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. The room and view was amazing. The way we were greeted and shown to our room and given green tea and a cookie. We wore the traditional robes to dinner and the outdoor onsen was a such a once in a lifetime experience. As a plus size lady I was nervous but it was very peaceful, I went just after 10pm and got the outdoor onsen to myself. Breakfast and dinner were exceptional! All the individual dishes were explained to us it was an interactive experience and tasty! We only spent two nights here but I’m already planning another trip. It’s the most beautiful and peaceful part of our trip. Please stay here you don’t regret it!

“When in Miyajima, you have to experience and stay at Iwaso!”

Everything from start to finish, we arrived very late due to some flight cancellations and needed to rearrange the itinerary, which meant we did not arrive in Miyajima via Ferry until around 8/9 pm. Their was a gentleman waiting at the port for us in a beautiful navy jute with the hotel banner held up. What an absolute relief. He came rushing over as soon as we acknowledged him, and he took our luggage . Within 6 mins, we arrived at the hotel. The reception was kept open, the lady at the reception we super tentative and understanding and even asked whether we had eaten or required dinner. She even took us around our room and explained everything to us.

The staff at Iwaso met the standards and the expectations; high class service; the room and the facilities met our expectations or were above our expectations.

The food was great, the people were very friendly, Onsen was nice. The surrounding nature and creek are truly beatiuful and very relaxing.

“Beautiful and restful Japanese experience”

It was just such a lovely oasis in the middle of quite a hectic touristy Miyajima. The hotel is beautiful and the staff were so friendly. The onsens are so relaxing and set in beautiful surroundings. So easy to walk up the mountain and get to the ropeway early before the crowds. Miyajima after dark is a totally different place without the tourists and very peaceful, just the deer for company. The food was amazing and the staff were so welcoming.

Such a lovely place to stay. We stayed in the new building with toilet, bathroom and traditional tatami floors. So relaxing, bedding was comfortable, dinner was next level amazing. Our maid made us feel comfortable and the onsen was lovely. A great experience

Overall, a fantastic experience! Very traditional Japanese setting, and super welcoming staff. The meals were delicious, and the staff were wonderfully accommodating of our dietary restrictions (I'm a vegetarian). The onsen was absolutely outstanding.

“A lovely and restful stay”

This is a beautiful and excellently located hotel. Had a lovely two-night stay there, with nourishing and delicious meals, and frequent use of the onsen. It’s also a brilliant location for exploring other parts of the island. As it’s just a five-minute walk to the famous Tori gate, you can go there early in the morning (the shrine opens to visitors at 6.30am), before the crowds arrive. It’s also very close to the “ropeway” (or cable car) that carries you up the mountain. The room was spacious, comfortable and restful.

“Amazing ryokan surrounded by trees and nature”

We were greeted by a lovely Japanese girl, Lisa, who welcomed us to this beautiful ryokan and explained everything about our stay with such kindness and desire to help that she made our stay really unforgettable. And the stay was absolutely wonderful, from the amazing meals to the pleasant and fascinating surroundings, not to forget about the quiet and elegant onset where we spent some time after dinner. A beautiful special place!

“Special traditional place on an island”

Traditional Japanese room, tatami mats, etc.. Really hot onsen (loved it). We booked dinner inclusive which worked really well. Shuttle to/from boat landing worked well. Great to walk outside and down to the sea once the day trippers had gone. Wish we'd stayed longer.

The food was absolutely amazing, some of the best Japanese food I’ve ever had. The staff were all so accommodating and friendly. They made me feel very welcomed. The hotel and property were beautiful, very comfortable and relaxing stay.
