“Lovely stay in Mirissa”

Lovely building, the grounds are amazing and you can see lots of nature from the pool and your room. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is great, next to coconut tree hill and turtle beach. Also a very nice breakfast.

“A Beautiful Colonial-Style Hotel with amazing Staff”

The staff was absolutely amazing: warm, professional, and always ready to help with anything I needed. Breakfast was phenomenal, offering a wide range of fresh and delicious options that truly set the tone for the day. The location couldn’t be better, perfectly situated close to key attractions and public transport. I also found it remarkably easy to strike up conversations with both staff and fellow guests, which made the whole experience feel even more welcoming and enjoyable.

It seems almost a cliche when people say a place is amazing and the staff are incredible, but this really is true of The Spice House which was undoubtedly the highlight of our two week tour of Sri Lanka. In short, my advice is this, stay at The Spice House for as long as you possibly can, you will not regret it! The jungle setting, stylish and opulent apartments and exquisite swimming pool are unforgettable, and great value too. You can walk to Turtle Beach for a swim any time, or to see the sunset over Pigeon Island whilst sipping cocktails at the Tipsy Turtle. You can take a 15 minute tuk tuk ride in the early morning to The Doctors House and swim with turtles in crystal clear waters, then spend a few hours by the amazing pool at the Spice House before hopping into Galle via tuk tuk where you might even come back with a beautiful gem or item of jewellery that will remind you of your trip to Sri Lanka forever. The owners and staff at The Spice House will help you to organise everything with an air of grace and style you will come accustomed to. The only problem is you will never want to leave.

“Great place to relax and unwind by the coast at the end of a full-on holiday!”

We had a lovely suite overlooking the gardens at the front of the hotel. It had 2 showers, a spacious bathroom, a living room with seating and a relaxing area outside on the balcony. The swimming pool and outside area to sit was a real treat. My wife enjoyed the opportunity to have a massage on site at a very reasonable price. The owner Phil & his wife Wathsala were very helpful and arranged for a tuk tuk to take us to Galle fort and visit various places en route. We enjoyed traditional and varied breakfasts at the property. Nearby was a famous viewpoint to watch the sunset and also easy access to shops, restaurants and bars. It was also a great base from which to do a whale-watching trip.

Fabulous room and swimming pool, we stayed in the village which was fantastic. Loads of monkeys going through jungle and into hotel grounds and pool. Breakfast was lovely. Staff were really friendly. Location was great, really close to beach, town, restaurants etc but in a peaceful beautiful setting. Would highly recommend

“Not as good as it should be for the price.”

We stayed in the deluxe king suite, which was separate to the main house. Massive beautiful bedroom and bathroom. Pool was lovely. The whole place was very quiet and lovely to relax in, as well as being less than 15 minutes walk to the beach. The massage facility was great.

Big room, with nice bathroom. Good breakfast. Beautiful quiet garden. Location is ok. 10 min walk to the main area and nice turtle beach and shops and licenced shop.

We stayed in the Villa, which contains 4 or 5 rooms and was secluded and relatively quiet (for Mirissa!). Very friendly staff. Delicious breakfast and useful fridge..

Excellent customer service, beautiful location and exceptionally clean rooms. The outdoor shower was cool.

Very comfortable and nice colonial style accommodation in beautiful gardens and within easy walking distance of some lovely beaches and restaurants. Lovely breakfasts.

We loved the Spice House! My sister and I felt very welcomed by Phil and Wathsala and the rest of the staff, we were able to check in early and could spend time on the beautiful property after we had checked out. The breakfasts were delicious, in such a beautiful setting. It's such a peaceful stay, it felt very serene despite being close to the road and still very accessible to the rest of town. We would go back in a heartbeat (and hope to one day)!

The hotel has an amazing garden with a beautiful pool. An oasis of calm away from the beach with its bars - great fun but nice to escape too. Staff were lovely and especially the lady who runs it 💕 Breakfast was delicious.

“Boutique luxury, incredible value.”

The Spice House is a wonderful place, it feels like a boutique colonial-style luxury hotel hidden from the rest of Mirissa. The owners are welcoming, food is fabulous, the garden and swimming pool beautiful and the room is terrific - everything you would expect from a high end hotel but at a fraction of the price, but with the friendliest of atmospheres.

“Exceeded our expectations — a perfect stay”

This accommodation exceeded our expectations in every way. From the moment we arrived, it felt like staying at a beautiful villa. The breakfast was excellent, and every staff member was incredibly kind and welcoming. The room was spacious, stylish, and very well designed. It was such a comfortable place to stay while exploring Mirissa. One day the entire town experienced a power outage, but thankfully our accommodation still had electricity, which we really appreciated. The laundry service was also great, and overall everything about this stay felt smooth and perfect. We’re very grateful and would absolutely stay here again. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
