Ishan was a really friendly host who helped us around and gave tips for things to do and see. The dinner and breakfast served by his mom were really good as well! The house itself is completely made out of wood which really gives the vibe of being in a treehouse.

We had such a wonderful stay in Sri Lanka, everything was absolutely beautiful and we were extremely happy with our experience! Ishan was incredibly kind and always ready to help us with anything we needed. His parents are truly lovely people, and his mother prepares a delicious breakfast every morning. “Lovely homestay”

The room was cosy and in a great location. It was only 5/10 mins from the beach and restaurants. The family were really nice and provided a lot of useful info. We booked our whale watching tour through them which was really great and we got a small discount. It was lovely sitting on the balcony in mornings watching the Peacocks and mongoose.

The family are really kind and welcoming ☺️ and have beautiful surroundings of animals in nature from the balcony , the dinner was so tasty

Everything was great! The host and his family were lovely. The bird house was clean with everything you need. Definitely order a meal freshly cooked by the host’s mum! It delicious and if you get the fish version, the fish will be caught by the host’s father who is a local fisherman. Probably the best stay I have ever experienced

We loved our stay at the Birdhouse. Ishan is a 10/10 host, can’t get any better. Communication was so good, he was very helpful and took good care of us. Sleeping in the birdhouse is a awesome experience in itself, fulfilling a childhood dream of sleeping in a fully equipped treehouse. The location is superb, 2 min walking from the main beach. Ishan lives with his mom and dad which are very kind aswell. We both got the breakfast and dinner - which we can highly recommend for a truly Sri Lankan experience. The fish curry was lovely made from Ishans Mom with the fresh caught fish from Ishans Dad who is a fisherman. Thank you Ishan, you are one of a kind.

Amazing stay at the Birdhouse, Ishan made us feel very welcome. Him and his family were so lovely and super helpful. We ate breakfast and dinner which his family cooks downstairs - delicious! Saw lots of animals from our balcony which we really enjoyed. Also is close to the beach which is handy if you are surfer.

Our host Ishan made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. He is lovely and gave us so many recommendations. He also booked us in for a surf lesson which was so fun! The location is amazing. The treehouse is a great place to stay, and had everything we needed. Ishan’s mum cooked us breakfast every morning and dinner one night. It was incredible! Such lovely food. We loved our stay here so much and would come again!

The house is a small cottage in a tree, in the family house of the owner, which let you feel how is Sri Lanka way of living. Its small but more than enough! It was perfectly clean. I could see some small “guests” during the night but it didn’t bother me at all, because i was sleeping in a tree, so that’s nature! And the house was super clean as I said so that’s the important thing. It was very nice well located, and I also ate the food made by the owner’s mother, which was great! She is a really good cooker, and the portions were really generous, more that I could eat. The best part of all, is the owner. He is kind, he is worrying all the time about you and your experience and helps you to arrange transport if you need it. I would definitely repeat if I come back to Mirissa

The room and setting was beautiful, exactly as depicted in the photos. It feels very much like you are in nature with a beautiful balcony to relax on. The location is perfect, a short, quiet walk to the main beach in Mirissa. Ishan and his family made the stay very special and were very accommodating, organising whale watching and meals for us, along with recommendations for other things to do in the area.

Gorgeous little home stay in Mirissa away from the business. Ishan and his family were wonderful hosts and helped us with planning. His mum also made us some beautiful breakfasts and a delicious fish curry upon our request. Would recommend to someone looking for an affordable option with a good location and who doesn’t mind a basic room!

“Lovely, rustic stay with wonderful food and superb hosts”

The Bird House is adorable. It is just as described, is clean, spacious and rustic. It appears to be set in the middle of the jungle but is only a few minutes walk from Mirissa beach, shops and bars. The noises from the animals are very loud, and as mentioned in the description you need to be prepared for the creatures who may pay you a visit! Ishan and his family are wonderful, they made us so welcome and couldn’t have done more for us. We had a dreadful rain storm while we were there and Ishan’s mum’s house was flooded, but she still managed to cook us a fantastic meal, smile and help us in anyway she could!

It’s a wonderful and peaceful place with a great location. The food, prepared by the mother if the owner war amazing. A very welcoming and farm family who is running this place!
