Absolutely everything. The peace of the place, our room, the soft futons, the lovely staff, the presentation of the food. It felt so luxurious. Highly recommend walking to the ropeway behind the big temples up to Mount.

The staff were exceptional! Tomo, in particular, took care of us from the time we arrived till the moment we left, making sure we were having a pleasant stay, checking in on our dietary needs, and even taking us on a walking tour, showing us around town. We also did a Kintsugi workshop which I highly recommend. The 5am wake up for the morning prayers were also well worth it.

The Atmosphere of Minobusan and at the Lodging is felt immediately. All of the staff was exceptionally friendly with mostly very good english. Juri especially was an immediate best friend for my wife. The Food, for being almost fully vegetarian, was very good and interesting.

“Where Time Slows Down and Hearts Open”

WOW. I don’t even know where to begin. This is a place that touched our hearts forever. My 9-year-old son and I travel a lot, and from the bottom of my heart I can say: this was the most magical stay of our lives. Everything was beyond perfect: the staff, the food, the bath, the experiences (onigiri making, washi paper, kimono, calligraphy, chanting), the driver, the surrounding area… every single detail was filled with care and intention. But what truly made this place unforgettable were the people. I have rarely met such genuine kindness, respect, warmth, and purity. Every interaction felt heartfelt, respectful, and deeply human. It wasn’t just service – it felt like being welcomed, truly seen, and cared for. Everyone went out of their way to make everything absolutely perfect. The atmosphere is peaceful in a way that’s hard to describe. Calm, grounding, and incredibly special. You can feel the love and attention in everything. I wish this would have been our last stop on our journey through Japan. So serene! To future guests: please stay at least two nights and give yourself time to explore the area – it is absolutely beautiful and deserves to be experienced slowly. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this unforgettable experience. It meant more to us than words can express.

It is peaceful and quiet location, and you get to experience fairly authentic Buddhist experience, The nearby Mt. Minobu is a nice daily activity if you like hiking up the mountain, it is about 3 hour hike up, afterwards you can either take the cable car down, or hike down either the same way you came, or the other side of the mountain. The vegetarian food was interesting. Service was very nice.

The staff is genuinely so friendly and forthcoming. The room was beautiful, the food delicious and our time in the temple a memorable one.

I can't say anything bad about this place. It was more like an adventure than an accommodation. The night was cold but our beds were warm enough. The green tea tasted like nothing before!

This is a unique experience out in the mountains - very peaceful and walking distance form the main temple with its Indiana Jones like steps. Well worth the early 5am rise to see the buddhist activities including the amazing bell ringing ceremony.

Staff were very kind and helpful. They had a fantastic dinner and breakfast. I don't normally eat vegetarian/vegan food but this is exceptional, I would recommend this to any traveller who is unsure of trying a meal thats vegetarian/ vegan. The town itself is lovely and is great for anyone wanting to know more about Buddhism. If you want to escape the city and have time to relax, this is the place to go.
