Esther and Jose were the perfect hosts, kind and welcoming. The Casa provided delicious breakfasts, lunch and dinner. The room was spacious and extremely comfortable and watching hummingbirds from our room or from the huge dining deck was an absolute pleasure.

We read that the service was great before coming and they still managed to surprise us in happy ways. We felt very well taken care of, they even got us bug spray when we had foolishly left ours at home. The meals were delicious and the staff was very accommodating. The setting naturally brings in such variety of birds we felt like we were on a perpetual bird tour just from our villa and eating meals on the patio.

The place has a perfect location, the view of the mountains, the nature with the comfort of the rooms and delicious food is something that is worth it. I stayed with my family from Switzerland and we were delighted. The staff was very friendly and the birds tour is a must. I recommend this place 100%.

“Fabulous location and excellent hosts”

The location is fabulous, right in the cloud forest with so many birds to see directly from the room or when having breakfast or dinner (especially the beautiful hummingbirds). We took a bird watching tour with Esther which was wonderful, she’s extremely knowledgeable and took some great photos that she shared with us. Taxi to town is cheap and easy but you can also have dinner at the lodge which I highly recommend. Breakfast is also very good. Bed is super comfortable and we loved our terrace with hot tub. We also walked up to the terebita ride across the gorge and walked to the waterfalls, was a very rainy day but still an enjoyable morning.

The breakfast was high protein, healthy and delicious—an authentic setting in the midst of nature. Our hostess was superb: hospitable, knowledgeable, and attentive. I found that the staff were delightful and I felt completely at home. The latter point is not common.

This little hotel is family run and they do an absolutely great job. We were welcomed by a staff member & shown to our rooms which were very beautiful & clean We then ate supper there which was very tasty. A beautiful view as well. We had a birding adventure in the am but coffee was available & they waited until we arrived back to serve us a decadent breakfast

Friendly service. Bird watching tour was excellent. Lots of birds can be seen from the room itself and from the dining room. We travelled with four and enjoyed an excellent dinner.

Location was excellent. Staff wonderful. Warm, welcoming. Went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and memorable. Breakfast was great. I am vegan and they accommodated my diet, which was great. Sitting on the balcony watching toucans and all types of birds was just fantastic!!

nestled in the magic rainforest above Mindo, Casa de Vista Alta is the perfect place for enjoying nature, being stunned by the local birdlife and experiencing the first-rate hospitality of owner, Fernando and his team. our cabin was very comfortable and beautifully built into the environment. The food was delicious and the staff couldn’t do enough to help. The highlight was definitely our early morning walk with Fernando and his very powerful birder’s telescope. A lifetime of spotting birds enabled our guide to introduce us to many different beautiful species. We also appreciated his wealth of knowledge about the local environment.
