“Very comfortable hostel with birds for company”

Biohostel is situated close to the main street for easy access. We lived the dining area in the tree tops with regular visits from hummingbirds and other birds. We self-catered some nights easily using the kitchen and supermarkets nearby. The manager was very nice and helped with tour recommendations, directions. We had lovely breakfasts and got a pile of laundry beautifully clean. It is a quiet time so we also had a balcony to relax on and almost the hostel to ourselves, very relaxing!

This place was brilliant, got to check in early, you pay in cash on arrival. Room was big and the bed was massive. Room was clean with fresh bedding. On the first afternoon we saw a toucan in the tree on the 3rd floor, and due to the feeders we saw an insane amount of hummingbirds. Plenty of space to relax or cook, we always had really hot water at the tap and shower, with free soap, shampoo and conditioner. The staff were also very polite and thoughtful, room was cleaned during our stay also. The breakfast was really good, bowl of mixed fruit, yogurt and some granola. Then you got eggs (fried or scrambled), plantain and a croissant, every morning. Also, free coffee, tea (herbal/black). The owner was super kind and helpful, they couldn't do enough for us. We requested an early breakfast one day and that was done bang on time, on our final day we left really early and the owner was up and had made us a packed breakfast to take (fruit in a container and more than usual amount of croissants) Unbelievably kind. We loved our stay and it was very close to the centre. Also it wasn't too far to walk to get to the other attractions.

“A wonderful place to escape from the city to, surrounded by nature and the lovely humming birds”

We loved our stay here, it was a little out of the bustle of the main town which was nice (but unfortunately on the route the buggies took out of town so there was a lot of noise from them). The owners are so lovely and spoke some English which was great for us! Our room was comfortable though not much hot water and no plugs though we had a jacuzzi in the bathroom which didn’t work (not a negative point as we didn’t expect one but it was a little strange!). Breakfast was delicious and served on the terrace where we could watch the humming birds feeding - and we saw a red squirrel one day. I loved relaxing in the hammock on the terrace in the afternoon watching them. We booked the evening walk which was very good though we found out afterwards there had been a mix up and we took another walk because our tour guide (contracted by the hotel) hadn’t looked for us at the meeting point! We also had our laundry done while we stayed here and it was very efficient and very clean!

Staff were pleasant and the location was quiet yet central. Watching hummingbirds during daylight hours was spectacular. Hot water, comfortable bed. Good breakfast the second day.

We were disheartened when we arrived. They weren’t expecting us and there was a lot of construction work going on but the staff were lovely, the breakfasts were the best we had in Ecuador and sitting on the balcony watching the hummingbirds was very relaxing.

The location was fantastic to see birds literally sitting at the breakfast table or getting up at 6 am you can see even more types of birds. As a bonus, they have free coffee even if you don't order breakfast. So we could take our own bread or fruit and have their coffee. The shower was fantastic and the beds very comfortable.

Spacious room and very comfy bed! Terrace for breakfast and relaxing in is a highlight with all the birds that visit. Staff were really friendly and accommodating. Good location that is quiet but close to the centre of the town.

It is big and you can observe Colibris from the balcony.

Biohostal is a lovely and friendly place to stay. Watching the birds at breakfast and relaxing in the hammock area upstairs were highlights. They were very helpful with taxis and how to get the bus at a different location as the terminal in the middle of the town as the time for that bus didn't suit us. Gorgeous large beds and super comfortable.

All the birds in the dining area were amazing! Rooms were decent size with ensuite. Huge bed, which was comfortable.

The open terrace where we ate breakfast each day has multiple hummingbird feeders and loads of hummingbirds. We spent Christmas day photographing the birds and editing photos! Location is great - Mindo is a small place. It is easy to walk to anything within town and even to some fo the hiking locations. The breakfast (for a small added cost each day) is fulfilling. Staff is helpful in letting us know where things are and how to get to them. You can borrow rubber boots for free!There is a bar/nightclub nearby with extremely loud music playing very late into the night.

Really nice location, and good value. Food was good and the bedroom and bathrooms were nice.
