“Perfect”

The place was the best place so far; very pretty with 3 Pools lovely people that mostly love nature and the food was very very good. This includes the food safety. Oh and important the matras was high end quality! The staf were friendly and helping out. The Finca organises a lot. The owner Kobe is a great Guy. I am impressed by what he and his wife have created over the years. Nature surrounding the Finca is just beautifull! I do advice to stay at this Finca and Will definitely come back. Thanks Kobe and Thanks to the whole staff! Best Pieter

“A hidden paradise if you like the quiet and the rest!”

This beautiful lodge with two beautiful swimming pools in the middle of the Colombian jungle was the highlight of our 3 weeks trip to Colombia. The quietness, the views, the high quality food and the friendliness of the entire staff were stunning. Also, especially the two-persons lodges up the mountain, are the perfect spot for birdwatching from the bedroom or the adjecent balcony! From Santa Marta it's very easy to get there from Santa, either by jeep or on a motorcycle taxi. There are several hikes that start from the finca, along the river, and continue up in the mountains, especially the 4,5 hour hike to Minca (Wikiloc, one way) is very much worth the effort. Beware of a loose dog along the way though, it bites, so make sure to bring a stick!

“Epic family hostel stay”

Well, I had no idea this place would be so epic. We are a family of four and originally came for two nights… which quickly turned into three because we simply didn’t want to leave. It’s very easy to see why this place has won Hostel of the Year twice — they’ve clearly found a formula that works brilliantly. The whole setup is incredibly well thought out: * Sandwiches and snacks are available throughout the day. * Lunch and dinner are ordered in advance and ready at set times, which completely avoids long waits and stressful rushes. * Happy hour cocktails at the upper bar next to the pool overlooking the mountains create such a social atmosphere and naturally bring strangers together. * There’s also a family dinner each evening at 7:15 where you can choose to sit socially with others or keep to yourselves. The hostel provides clear guides for local activities and things to do, yoga by the pool on most days, and daily room cleaning, which really adds to the comfort. The gardens are gorgeous, with beautifully maintained paths, hammocks, and plenty of thoughtfully designed spaces to either socialise or relax alone. Falling asleep to the sound of the river and nature was amazing. There are accommodation options for different budgets, and communication before and during our stay was excellent. There are also some lovely local places to eat just down the road if you want to explore — although it’s probably best to arrange ahead rather than just turn up. That said, the food menu here has enough variety that you could happily stay onsite the whole time. It may not be ultra-cheap, but the menu is available beforehand, so you know exactly what to expect and it is all delicious. Most importantly, the staff went above and beyond throughout our stay. Everyone was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We honestly didn’t want to leave.

Nice accommodation set in the middle of the jungle, with great pools, a good location, and friendly staff. The rooms are decent and overall it has a cool, relaxed vibe. What really bothered us, though, is that smoking is allowed around all the pools. Since there are many young European travelers, people are smoking everywhere, and cigarette butts and ashes are often left behind. Honestly, this just doesn’t feel appropriate anymore. We had a room near the upper pool, and people were smoking right in front of it throughout the afternoon and sometimes even in the evening, which made it hard to relax. A suggestion for management: it would be much better to create a second designated smoking area, for example like below the restaurant near the tables, and make the pool areas non-smoking.

This was our second visit to Carpe Diem. All I can say is WOW! Exceeded expectations just as last time. The vibes, the nature, the staff, the food- so much love has gone into the creation of this Finca & you can certainly feel it.

The spot is amazing, the food very good and the staff extremely nice. It is a backpacker hostel handled by a foreigner so a lot of people from all over the place and not many colombians compared with other hotels we stayed at in Colombia.

“Great ecolodge in a very quiet area”

The cabaña was beautiful, clean and very spacious. There’s no AC but the design of the huts keep them really cool inside and it never got really hot. We loved the variety of the activities you could do there (we definitely recommend the cacao tour!) and the free yoga class in the morning. And the food was probably the best we had in all Colombia and still reasonably priced. We would definitely stay there again.

The place is rather magical, very chill, very open and very clear about what you can expect. A perfect place to wind down and start or end your trip.

Lovely finca with lush surroundings and nice pools. It has a hostel vibe and is perfect for backpackers travelling alone or in groups. Friendly staff and nice hiking options. Would definitely recommend.

This place is absolutely stunning and really well maintained. The staff are friendly and the food is good, varied and not expensive considering the location. There are 3 pools and we used them a lot! Never crowded. The views from the Tree house rooms are breathtaking 😍. We did the waterfall hike and this is a must do! Challenging but such a reward for the effort. The rooms are clean and comfy and a really good size. We all had a very enjoyable time. Excellent experience all round. Most of us were in awe of the location, views and facilities. On the feedback below, we just want them to understand that its important to communicate effectively.

“Adventure and relaxation in nature”

Great location up in the mountains and surrounded by jungle. Really atmospheric place to chill out surrounded by nature. Decent food options, friendly and helpful staff. Range of fun and adventurous activities available. Went with my nine-year old daughter and she also thoroughly enjoyed her visit esp. excursions to nearby waterfalls, cocoa farm and nature reserve.
