Kurokawa Mori No Kiki was one of the highlights of our trip in Kyunshu! Arigato!

We were two couples travelling together and had originally booked two separate villas. When we asked if it was possible to stay together, the host kindly upgraded us to a 2-bedroom villa. The second room was set up with bunk-style double beds, making the villa suitable for larger groups or families of up to eight people. We loved the space. The villa was comfortable, beautifully appointed, and came with a generous-sized private onsen. There was also a coffee machine with fresh beans and plenty of thoughtful high-tech touches throughout. We ordered breakfast on two mornings and really enjoyed it. It was freshly prepared and delivered to our villa, which made for a very relaxing start to the day. On a particularly warm afternoon, the host even treated us to ice cream, a small gesture that we genuinely appreciated. The hospitality was exceptional. The host was warm, professional, and incredibly accommodating from start to finish. Overall, we loved the villa, the location, and the experience. If both bedrooms had standard double beds it would have been perfect for two couples, but that is a small point in what was otherwise a wonderful stay. We would gladly return.

Fairytale getaway

Absolutely everything - from the corner location, to the incredible service and help during our stay by Kumi and her partner and of course the private onsen / cottage amenities. We arrived late and they packed us up from the bus station, took us to town the next day and dropped us off when we left as taxis are very limited in the evenings and sundays. They cooked us a yummy hot pot dinner one night, which had enough leftover for 2 more meals! The breakfast bento, soup, fresh bread and local products (jam and produce) were all delicious. The mattresses are on the softer side but if you need a hard bed, the japanese futons are there. There were enough extra pillows and blankets to make a nest in and have the most blissful sleep waking up to pine trees and blossoms. And if youre lucky and its new moon, you get treated to sights of the milky way. If you like cooking and have access to a car to get groceries, the cottage is well equipped to cook with and has all the basic pantry items including 2 different types of cooking sake and sugar! The bbq is huge and theres a large covered balcony for al fresco dining. The coffee machine is bean to Grind and all products were top quality. Genuinely the best place we have ever stayed when you factor all this in and the delights of nearby kurokawa onsen. If youre looking for a special unforgettable getaway, this is it! Arigato gazaimasta from the whole family!

Best of a fantastic bunch!

I usually stay in great accommodation but I am often too lazy to leave a review (sorry!), I am also quite picky. This place deserves the effort of a review and we stayed there last night. Everything about this stay was top class. For starters, it is your idealistic cabin in the woods, comparable to a Swiss chalet. The furniture and fittings were of a very high standard with the sofa and bed being comfortable, lovely tableware, coffee machines, TV, sound systems. Everything was classy. The place has a large projecter which my partner and I used to snuggle down with a movie in bed (this was our first ever break away from our kids). The lovely host came around as we checked in to arrange our breakfast, the baked good tasted lovely. The house isn't far from Kurokawa Onsen which on its own is a lovely place to visit. It can be a little difficult to find so just ensure you compare the picture map on the booking and compare it to Google maps and you will be fine. My partner and I have promised to bring our children back here for Christmas in a few years as we couldn't imagine a better place to stay and cosey in. Thanks for having us!

10/10! its an accommodation to die for if you want to be off the grid and just relax, enjoyed it!

To be honest, its one of the best places we have stayed for winter in Japan. The entire place was beautiful, isolated (in a way) , snowed beautifully, exceed our expectations. Pros loved the isolation, quietness, serenity Cabin feel, tons of space they are fully equipped, i mean really equipped with everything and it all updated tech, breadmaker to smokless grills to oven with steamer etc... PRIVATE ONSEN BBQ in winter Great deck outdoors Ultimately, its a accomodation to die for if you want to be off the grid and just relax. we truly enjoyed the place and the service that they given us, prompt response and excellent help from them. Hope to be back again here in winter!!

Great for family. Excellent service.

Very beautiful villa. It was very clean and well-equipped. The staff services were excellent despite the language barrier! The distance was far but no regrets. We witness snowing and the family had great fun.

Everyone loved the cottage!

Everything was very well organized and well provided for. The whole stay was very comfy & my kids wished we could have stayed longer. Tanaka was very helpful & answered all our queries & even made a reservation for a very good yakiniku dinner for us. I loved the creamy milk provided & fresh bread in the morning. There was a lovely BBQ on the verandah. Perhaps the hosts can offer an option to provide meats & vegetables/rice for a fee so guests can do a BBQ if they are too lazy to drive out for dinner? Excellent stay! The onsen was a huge bonus too!

A Magical and Relaxing Stay 10/10!

This stay was magical. The amenities were exceptional, and the house was extremely clean and relaxing. The onsen bath was a really great way to relax. We ended up cancelling our plans so that we could spend the day relaxing at the house instead. It was so peaceful and beautiful. The beds were so soft, and the quality of the bedding, toiletries, and the tea/coffee/ice cream/milk were really high! The owner was exceptionally nice, and he has a restaurant that we went to for dinner. I have dietary requirements, and they went to a huge effort to source ingredients that I could eat and prepared a delicious and extremely well priced meal. Everything about this stay was exceptional!

We travelled to Kurokawa onsen Mori No Ki Ki by driving from Kumamoto, it took us about 2 hr. The staff (or the owner) was so kind and willing to facilitate and keen to support us nicely. We were so much impressed and appreciated. The house was so clean, the onsen was good. Home made bread was excellent. We suggest the visitor should come before the evening as to see the sign clearly. The sign showing the accommodation name a bit small comparing to the others, so you may miss when it is dark. The rest are excellent, if you like peace and relax with warm heart, you may like this one.

We were really happy with our stay. The host was very helpful, professional and friendly. The furniture and all appliances are of high quality and felt luxurious. The private onsen was very nice as well. The house is located remotely and has a unique and exclusive feel to it. All in all we felt that we had a special stay.
