Very comfortable stay during our snowboarding trip. The staff were so warm and helpful; always so prompt in responses to our endless queries and accommodating to our various requests. Great that they also use WhatsApp to communicate with guests. The room we booked was very spacious and clean, and we were on the highest floor so we had a lovely view of the train tracks and surrounding mountains. Even though there was no ensuite bathroom, the on-premises public bath was nice to use and each had a rotenburo which is perfect during winter. Breakfast buffet was delicious, though a tad rushed as each seating was only 50min. We had initially only booked one dinner there but we loved it so much after our dining experience that we immediately booked for another dinner the next evening. Even though it was so last minute, the staff tried their best to accommodate us and we really appreciated that. The drying room, individual ski lockable racks and complimentary shuttle service to/fro a few nearby ski resorts provided a lot of convenience.

Pre-arranged shuttle service with pick up from the train station. Although the shuttle service is only available during check-in and check-out, but shuttle driver was very kind to send us to the nearest JR station when we were walking out to the station as well as arrange pick up from the nearest station when we were back to the ryokan late at night. Very good service and clean ryokan. Good for those who likes nature as the ryokan is surrounded by padi fields. Response is also quick and can communicate well in English.

I enjoyed our stay here. The location was ok - walking distance to the train and they have a shuttle that presumably takes people to the ski fields (not where we were headed). We paid extra for breakfast - it was lovely. Some of it was a little exotic for me and I had a giggle at some of the English translations. I liked the onsen once I got over my Western aversion to nakedness. The room itself was nice and big. The beds were comfy and it was clean. I'm grateful for the instructions in the onsen about how to use it - it helped me not to embarrass myself further! There were vending machines available and I also noticed there was ski gear hire.

The accommodation and onsens was great. The free shuttle bus service to and from Echigo Yuzawa Station and the ski fields was a bonus. Drop off and pick up ski fields shuttle service was on demand rather than a fixed schedule.... Communicated via WhatsApp. Very authentic Japanese experience with very few westerners as guests. Google translator is the go if you're not a Japanese speaker. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Also the staff are able to supply discounted lift tickets... As a gluten free person I had no drama with the Japanese buffet breakfast... Lots of choices. The same for dinner where they make every effort to accommodate your dietary needs ... Just give advanced warning so they can organise the courses for you. They have an excellent drying room for wet ski gear. Washing machine and dryer also on site.

It was a really relaxing trip. Property is small, fuss free. Food (breakfast) was simple and selection was limited but it was comfort Japanese food. Property was close enough to ski slopes, they provide shuttle to and fro the ski slopes and also Echigo Yuzawa station

It is a beautiful traditional onsen, the facilities were very clean, staff were patient and helpful with us who are english speaking guests. The onsens were a wonderful addition to the traditional experience.

Communication by staff was expedient and clear, the onsen was small but charming, the bed and pillows were spotless and so very comfortable, and an elevator was a huge plus for the luggage

The rooms were great, we were very happy to have a small coffee table setting with two armchairs! An often missed alternative to sitting on the tatami for us western tourists. Both onsens were exceptional, very nicely designed and maintained - and it's great that you can experience both as they swap each day. We didn't book in for the private rooftop onsen. The staff were super helpful with shuttle transport to and from the main station as well as too and from the ski resorts each day. Very useful drying room and boot area via the ground-floor entrance. We had one dinner at the hotel's restaurant and it was fantastic. Staff assisted us with reservation and transport for dinner on other nights.

Staff were amazing and did everything they could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Drove us free of charge from the station to the hotel and back, as well as to the ski resort. The location is also great, as well as the facilities

The room is cozy and the onsen is very nice. Most importantly, all staff were helpful especially when I lost my car key. They arranged a car to pick me back and on the next day, took me to find it. Luckily, it was found and I was so blessed to choose this ryokan. Highly recommended!

I don't know where to start.The in house onsen, the hospitality, the futon and tatami style, the food, the amenities, the shuttle to the ski resorts, the station and restaurants , and most importantly the people!

Outdoor onsen was amazing but I realised there were no shower facilities for those averse to public baths. Food was mainly Japanese fare - had breakfast and dinner, which was superb. I particularly liked the dining room that had private booths for everyone. + there are pet friendly options. Room was spacious and clean, and staff were very helpful. The facilities and amenities are generally very good - they even have their own ski gear rental available in house.
