“A must-try experience - cozy and welcoming temple stay”
Husband and wife caretakers were very friendly and the place was extremely large, new and clean - our family of 4 stayed here comfortably! The vegan breakfast and dinner were both really very very delicious and were prepared with much care and effort by the wife. Would highly recommend families to come stay here as this is a must-try experience!

“Once in a lifetime experience not to be missed”
Hosts were really incredibly kind and hospitable, location was great, rooms were really comfortable and the food was really really good! They have really cute cats too. Feels like a once in a lifetime experience!

“Luxurious stay in beautiful apartment in temple”
After visiting Mount Aso, we stayed in this Buddhist temple. The accomodation is actually a big apartment, with sitting room, dining room, bathroom and bedroom. Everything is new and with beautiful interior design. The beds are very comfortable and have tatami undermatrasses. The caretakers are very helpful and friendly, and the vegan food was delicious.

“Highly recommended as it was different than a normal ryokan.”
The ambiance being next to the temple was great. The meals (dinner and breakfast) were delicious. The food was vegetarian and prepared with much care. It was so very tasty and varied.

“IMPECCABLE”
THE BUDDHIST VEGAN MEALS HERE WERE THE BEST I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED !! Such a beautiful, remote, relaxing accommodation option at the foot of Mount Aso in a very quiet area and away from tourists. The hosts were also so amazing, in displaying the ultimate in Japanese hospitality. The stroll to Takezaki Spring was the most zen thing I have done on this trip (9th visit). You can have a choice of a bed or futon.

“Amazing unique experience!”
We stayed in 3 different places in the area and Ryokoji was by far the best. We had 2 bedrooms and a living room. Everything very clean and nice. We don’t eat meat and we are very picky eaters but the food they served us was amazing. So many dishes so tasty and very healthy. We ate dinners at other hotels but nothing compared to this one. And the breakfast was quite a pice of art! We are sorry we didn’t book 3 nights at this place instead of just one. Quite a unique experience and very happy we went there. Thank you for your hospitality!
