Syoubun features public and reservable hot spring baths with nature views. It offers Japanese-style accommodation, sake tasting and free WiFi. A free shuttle is available from/to Minakami Station. Rooms are furnished with tatami (woven-mat) flooring and futon bedding. They come with a flat-screen TV, a DVD player and a fridge. Guests at Syoubun can enjoy a massage in their room, or unwind in the garden. They can browse for local goods and delicacies in the hotel’s souvenir shop. A Japanese breakfast and dinner with local specialities is served in the dining room. Free coffee and tea are available in the lounge overlooking the garden. Syoubun is a 15-minute drive from Minakami Station, and a 1-minute walk from a bus stop. The Tanigawa Dake Ropeway is a 10-minute drive away.

This was by far one of my favorite hotel experiences of all my travels to date. The staff was warm, responsive and extremely accommodating. The food was some of the best we have eaten in Japan. The room was incredibly spacious, beautiful, and well-equipped with more amenities than we could use. The three-star designation is a thorough misnomer. This property is a work of art and our experience there is one we will never forget.

Absolutely beautiful… it exceeded our expectations in every way … once we found it ! Confusing geo location and no English signage (that we could see) but there had been record snow fall so perhaps it was buried ! Food was authentic and presented impeccably and service was excellent … on the expensive side but a memorable and special experience.

“It was the best stay we had in Japan”
It was a magical place. I’m glad we went here. We love that it is almost like an exclusive place as there are only 9 guest rooms so it is indeed very quiet. We had a very relaxing time here. The private onsen was the best. Staying here was like a therapy. The food is really tasty and healthy and it obvious how fresh the ingredients were. I really love the shiso drink that I had for dinner as well as the gunma milk for breakfast. I felt bad that I didn’t get to finish my dinner since I had some snacks but I should have starve myself for dinner, I regretted it so much.

The property being next to the road was not ideal as you could hear the road / traffic noiseProperty had too many levels being built on a slope. Walking to and from the room to the lobby for meals quite cumbersome. The tea area could be improved with more snack offerings. Currently very limited.

Full service Japanese breakfast and dinner included. Amazing local produce cooked to perfection. The on site to use private onsen were clean, hot and wonderfully presented. Amazing staff as well.
