“Too many mosquitoes”

We stayed one night at this hotel but unfortunately had to leave early due to the overwhelming number of mosquitoes. While we expected some mosquitoes, these were literally swarms. After sundown it became impossible to enjoy drinks or dinner outside, and it was clear we couldn’t spend the rest of our holiday there in any comfort. On the second day, after deciding to check out early, we raised the issue with staff and the manager. They were kind and understanding in person, and intimated that if we raised the issue through Booking.com, they would see what could be done about the 4 unused nights remaining on booking directly. However, response after raising this through booking.com appears to be a flat refusal to offer any help, and I am surprised at the disparity between the honest, helpful discussion we had in person and the reality of what followed. We came in good faith intending to stay, but had no choice but to leave to avoid spending precious holiday time in such discomfort. As a result, we lost 4 nights of our booked stay, making this overall a very unsatisfactory experience.

Small, tranquillo, individual, clean, and friendly atmosphere. Waiters knew our names after arrival, the beach is beautiful white sand but tide-dependent. Free Wi-Fi is good, no TVs (which is refreshing). Nice idea to have dinner in different venues – restaurant at the beach, near the kitchen, at the beach on different days. Quality of food is good, prices are very reasonable. Bar with the best view for sundowner. Free paddle boards and one-person kayaks to rent. Mosquito nets over the bed. Nice balconies in each of the only 20 rooms. Clean pool and garden. Family games and books available. One spa therapist available. The rooms are clean, and free drinking water is available throughout the resort.

The place is very calm and peaceful. The staff is absolutely amazing and the facilities hold high standard. Very nice dinners as well. Wide choice of excursions offered by the hotel.

“The perfect break”

The most serene, peaceful and private resort with the bluest waters, most stunning sunsets, perfect shores and azure waves. Stayed in room C1 from the 25th till the 28th of March 2025. The food at Michamvi was beyond amazing and a key highlight. Every meal and drink ordered was prepared with excellence. The rooms are well equipped, clean and spacious with the most beautiful views. Tours and drivers are available at reception at a more reasonable price compare to other resorts. My partner and I had booked a sunset cruise departing from the resort itself including a spice and Stonetown tour with a driver taking us thereafter to the airport. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Shirley was extremely helpful and welcoming - ensuring that we were happy and ok at all times. A key highlight was our private and romantic supper which was set up on the beach with a bonfire the night before leaving. This is the perfect place to relax and detach while enjoying the best sunsets and views. Thanks Michamvi for a beautiful stay.

“Beautiful place, lovely people & wonderful food.”

It’s a beautiful hotel with some good sized rooms around a pool area and a lovely spot of white sandy beach. It’s a small hotel but there is plenty of space so getting beds by the pool or a hammock to watch the sunset was always easy. But small enough that if we sat at the beach we could see and hear our daughter playing in the pool. So it really is the perfect place to relax. The staff were really helpful and friendly and letting us check in early after an overnight flight was massively appreciated. The food, particularly dinner, was excellent and something to look forward to each night. The half board is a small 3-course menu with 2 or 3 options for each course and was excellent each night.

This small resort with about 20 rooms was recently renovated. ( OBS the photos at Booking.com show the rooms before the renovation!) The rooms were nicely decorated and the beds comfortable. We were even offered the spacious bridal suite for our 9 days stay; it had a balcony with a view of the Michamvi bay. What a nice surprise! The food is good and varied, and the three course dinners (with both fish, meat and vegetarian options) are served at different locations every night. The female manager Shirley did an excellent job, and she was supported by a whole team of pleasant and service oriented staff members.

“Breathtaking boutique-resort located right on the clear-blue waters in Michamvi beach”

Situated in a beautiful and tranquil bay on the beach of Michamvi. A dreamy location for a relaxing holiday. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Breakfast and dinner was served in a different part of the resort each day. Quality of the dinner is excellent, breakfast a bit monotone. The rock restaurant is only a 10 minute commute from the hotel. The beach is beautiful, as well as the garden. The area felt very safe and well managed. The staff were excellent and very kind. Thank you Ally, Jolene, Daniel and Sylvester for making our stay joyful.

“A most enjoyable three-day relaxing break.”

Lovely rooms, small resort with well laid-out gardens. Very friendly and helpful staff. We were given early check-in and late check-out free of charge, which was great.

“Beautiful, tranquil and relaxing stay in Zanzibar”

Situated in a quiet area on a peaceful beach with beautiful gardens offering shade and privacy. The rooms are spacious, airy and spotless. The bed is very comfortable. The food is excellent and served in atmospheric surroundings. There are multiple loungers and deck chairs to choose from to relax. There are also paddle boards and kayaks available.The pool is very pleasant and refreshing. The place is very well managed and maintains high standards. Having stayed at three other places in Zanzibar, this was by far our favourite. Highly recommended.

Everything ! The location was wonderful, the food, the pool and the staff also (especially Shirley and Sirine, sorry for spelling). Incredible sunset ! We also met some great people, as the pool area lends itself well to socializing.

It was ideal. Everything was good. They thought about every detail.

Our stay at Michamvi sunset bay was absolutely fabulous. The whole team tried their very best to make the stay unforgettable and to feel at home. In the resort we enjoyed a very nice and calm atmosphere, with the best beach you can find in Sansibar. Every night the dinner was an absolutely romantic highlight - we even had dinner at the beach one day with a campfire and a beautiful sunset. If you are looking for a place far away from the main tourism to relax and enjoy the silence, this is the right place to be! We would always come back to Michamvi sunset bay any time!
