Located on the edge of the Loire River, Le Relais Louis XI is set in a historic building, which used to house Louis XI’s private stables. Free WiFi is provided throughout. “Really disappointed and certainly NOT worth what we paid.”
The hotel did NOT look like the photos. Very run down with cobwebs everywhere, stained bedside lamp, smoke alarm removed from ceiling leaving loose wiring. No nice touches as displayed in photos. Room very sparse and needed attention. No bar. No outside furniture. Was told on arrival no food that night.

We stayed here from July 3 to July 4, 2025. What should have been a restful stop turned into one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. When we went to bed, we discovered the room was infested with insects — even crawling in the bed. Sleeping there was impossible. Reception was closed, and none of the provided phone numbers were answered. Even Booking.com, through whom we booked, could not reach the hotel. Hours later, after midnight, we finally managed to contact someone in the restaurant who moved us to another room. By that time, our one-year-old was exhausted and distressed, and we slept only a few hours in poor conditions. We have clear photographic evidence and have shared it with both the hotel and Booking.com. Despite multiple attempts over the last month, the hotel has completely ignored our requests for a refund and has provided no explanation or apology. Severe hygiene issues, lack of basic service, and complete disregard for guests — we strongly advise against staying here.
