There was mold on the ceiling in the room, wifi was slow in the evening, there was mold on the bread served for breakfast

“Awesome experience”

Raul is an awesome host and a great person. We enjoyed our stay during the Mestia-Ushguli trek very much. Comfortable bed, delicious food, great atmosphere and a touch of local history all around you. Do yourself a favour and rest here on your way :)

Host was excellent!

The room was simple but comfortable and warm. The hosts were nice. The place has a soul and history so that was pretty special.

Delightful hosts and great food and wine in very interesting traditional house. Visit the church also for ancient icons and frescos.

The cutest host on the whole Mestia–Ushguli trek! She even shows you beautiful stones collected by an old man — you’ll be stunned.

We had a lovely stay. Raul is the perfect host. We had a lovely evening with the other hikers staying here and the food was delicious. Our stay couldn't be more authentic.

“Worth to spend some time with Raul”

Raul is a very nice host

Room Clean. Food delicious, and more than enough although it is 35GEL more experience than other (30GEL), it is valuable. Staff is very kind and helpful. My shoes is broken, I ask is it has strong tape. But he strongly recommend to use 'Shoe Glue' to fixed it. Then he take my shoes and use glue with his own repair process (fire) and tape to fixed them. It is a extra services. And I feel that it is not only to serve their customer, he is very kind to serve a person who need help. I live many guesthouse/hostel in other places. Normal, they will said no this item when I request something. I accept it as it is a extra services, they don't need help me. It is better, if they provide my request item. But they not only provide item, they use better method and handle in person. I never forget.

“Local hero”

We loved staying with Raul! What a gracious and generous host. The banquet hall and Raul's collection of artifacts is stunning. Raul really seems like a cornerstone of the local community, with various friends and previous students dropping in to say hello. The food was all great. We ate one of our favourite evening meals here and drank delicious amber wine. All the rooms were clean and comfortable, and everything was as described/shown in the pictures. Make sure you look in the church next door and ask Raul to explain what is in there, if he has time. We would strongly recommend staying with Raul if you're walking (or just travelling) through the Svaneti!

Raul is the best host, we loved being there so much. He’s always smiling. The dinner and breakfast was amazing, his wife is a great chef! We could even try his chacha, and the dining area is very well organized and there are lots of local and traditional things. We felt like home, we would definitely come back!

Very clean, friendly and hospitable hosts, good food

It's not directly on the trail, but the little detour is worth it. The house is a museum, and Raul is the best host in the world. His chacha is also very good, but beware, it's very strong ;)

The owner is really nice and helpful. It is super budget friendly.

The super friendly host and the amazing food, both dinner and breakfast, were the best and most authentic on our whole hike. We would definitely be glad to come back.

Raul's was our third stay on the way to Ushguli and it was our favorite! Raul is a lovely host and the rooms are clean and comfy. The highlight is the shared kitchen/dining room, which is a lovingly restored old svan hall, decorated with items from Raul's family history. The dishes were prepared right next to us on a rustic stove, both dinner and breakfast were great svan cuisine. I havent had a single bad experience with guesthouses in Svanetia, everywhere people are welcoming and the food is great. But Raul's stands out among them!

I unfortunately didn't get to hear Raul's stories but the food, and chacha, was excellent and he very kindly made me an early breakfast.

Raul and its family are very friendly and nice people who made us feel welcome. The place is just a small deviation from the Mestia to Ushguli track but definitely worth it! A small ancient church makes the place really unique!
