“if you want to go in the desert, you an trust them!”

Hassan and Youssef are great at managing the place. the room was way bigger than we expected, clean enough, and comfortable. the pool is a big plus aside from this, we booked privately with them one night in a tent in the desert. so this review goes also for that side from our perspective, it is considered more to the luxurious than the low-key side (there is electicity outside, toilets, and showers, as well as beds with pillows). we have cancelled a previous booking with a differen host as it was shady (asking 460eur and being on and off when I asked about a cheaper price), though it was meant to be one of the few really in the middle of the desert. since we did not have an alternative, we reserved without having anything in our hands with Youssef, the owner. this has taken place outside Booking, via WhatsApp and then face to face at the place. I personally dislike such way, as it's the word of one against another; however, this shady way is coherent with most of the Moroccans. We decided to trust them, and it turned out to be an amazing experience! we even agreed to have a tour with the 4x4 Jeep taking us to a nearby lake, nomad camp, ruins, and to the dunes - for more money of course, but this is also fair enough. this took around two hours. In the morning, we had woken up early to ride camels (dromedars) to see the sunrise. I read from other reviews, that people experienced that the ride lasted only for 30mins, instead of the promised 1-2hours. here we rode for good 1hour and 20minutes! positive!!

It is a good place to stop before going to the desert. The pool is nice to cool down. The lunch we had was well served and the food was well prepared. The hotel is located close to the desert dunes we climbed a dune to enjoy the view and is also 10min walk to the main city square. Excellent Riad

“Best Riad Berber Merzouga”

This is a quiet and very beautiful space with a chilled pool and courtyard. The room was one of the most beautiful I stayed in in Morocco. I stayed one night at the hotel and did a camel trek the second night. The hotel arranged everything for a good price. Hassan, my overnight desert guide, was a superb guide, highly knowledgeable of the dunes and happy to answer all of my annoying questions. He is also an excellent drummer! Would highly recommend Riad Berber Merzouga and Hassan!

We stayed in this Riad for one night but we experienced everything what we can. Quads, camels riding, fire show, dinner, breakfast everything was perfect. The staff was very kind and friendly. Thank you so much! We really recommend this camp to stay for everyone!

“Disappointing Experience at Riad Berber Merzouga”

We traveled as a family group of 12, and at first, everything seemed perfect. They kindly allowed us to check in very late and waited for us until nighttime. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout. However, the experience changed completely once the main manager got involved. He overcharged us for the 4x4 tour, offered very high prices for the quad tours, and provided a very poor breakfast for 50dh per person—the same price for both adults and children. For what we paid, we were expecting something much better. The rooms were not properly cleaned; there was dust everywhere, including on the beds. One of the main reasons we chose this place was for the swimming pool, so the kids could enjoy it. Unfortunately, we felt that children were not welcome. The pool was kept closed most of the time and was only opened for 30 minutes after we insisted. It was later reopened briefly when new guests arrived, which made us feel even more uncomfortable. In summary, it felt like we were not welcome unless we spent money on their food or activities. Sadly, we decided to leave earlier than planned.

The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Hassan was our host and made sure we got everything we need. The food was delicious and the next day after our check-out, we still could stay at the swimming pool until our next late check-in.

We had a great time, the staff was very friendly and helpful. We also booked a desert trip in their Landcruiser which was an amazing experience. Additionally we had dinner onsite, the best tagine that we had during our nearly 3 week long road road trip throughout Morocco.
