“A little piece of Heaven”
Kerkdreef is a hidden gem! We usually stay in gites and cottages when on holiday and this was one of the best! Merkem is only a 15 minute drive from all the war sites north of Ypres and less than 20 minutes from the centre of Ypres. The cottage is down a cul-de-sac with only the church at the end. It’s super quiet and the skies are so dark you see every star at night. The owners bring your breakfast each morning in a huge basket which is a brilliant idea. You have the best of both worlds in that you have the privacy of having the house to yourself but have the breakfast provided of a B&B. It works really well. The breakfast was out of this world and is even worth staying just for that! All the ingredients are either grown by the hosts or bought locally from the farms which I think is really important. We had a perfect stay in a perfect cottage and currently deciding when to visit again. Thank you so much Wim for looking after us.

“One night was just not enough!!!!!!”
We were so lucky to have the beautifully restored cottage available for the one night. Clearly no expense had been spared with the fittings. SMEG cooker and coffee machines. We will return there hiring the whole cottage. It's near Ypres and is in an ideal situation to visit the battlefields and memorials to WW1. Great for cycling too! The breakfast was simply fantastic home made bread yoghurt, fruits, bacon eggs, home made granola, pain au chocolat. Such a lovely friendly host.
