“Relaxing long weekend in Melnik”
Very clean and comfortable room, our host had thought of everything. There is a rocking chair in the foyer which is perfect for reading a book, while the others are sleeping. The lady who met us was very kind and told us briefly interesting stories about Melnik, places to visit nearby and what the name of the guesthouse means. People in town were also very friendly and accommodating. We'd love to come back!

Top notch! The lady (who doesn't speak a word of English) was waiting for us outside the guesthouse. The place is calm, very tidy and offers good Wi-Fi connectivity. The room is not big, however cozy enough to enjoy your stay. There are a few parking spots in front of the house.

“Simple and central”
Great location, on a side street overlooking the center of Melnik. Once you reach it by car by a steep narrow street, parking is surprisingly comfortable, right at front of the building. Great view from the window. Impeccably clean.

The guesthouse is very near the center of Melnik, which is a lovely little town. The accomodation was ok for one night in transit, very clean, lovely design of the lobby.

“Basic at the right price”
When we arrive the building doesn’t look like a guesthouse and it even looks abandoned. When we check with the people next door they tell us there is a note on the front door with a number we should call. When I call this number someone shouts: “I am coming, I am coming”. After 10 minutes a woman arrives who shows us our room. The guesthouse has 7 rooms and we are in room 5, meant for 3 people. The room is small and very, very basic. On the good side: it is clean, there is airconditioning and there is good WiFi. The shower is very good but it is impossible to take a shower without flooding the bathroom. However, the guesthouse is very noisy and if you prefer to sleep without noises from other guests, don’t stay here. You can park the car next to the building or in front of it. Breakfast is not included but if you book in advance, they can prepare you some breakfast for 7,50 lv per person. There are several nice restaurants within 10 minutes walk from the guesthouse.

“Terrible beds - book at your own risk”
We arrived to discover that the bed was very squeaky and collapsed. We asked for a different room - offering to pay more for an upgrade if possible - to be met with that the beds were all the same and the hotel booked out (although we appeared to be the only guests). So we checked out and moved to the Hotel Melnik. We asked, on the suggestion of Booking.com, for a waiver of the one night cancellation charge but this was refused and instead we received an email offering to now move us to another room! Too late as we were now (happily) elsewhere. Worth the cancellation fee to save our backs. Booking.com has still not reimbursed the balance of our pre-payment (3 nights) notwithstanding two phone calls and correspondence which is very disappointing on their part.
