We absolutely loved our stay here—it is the very definition of a genuine bed and breakfast. Zee and Monica clearly take immense pride in creating a special experience, and it shows in every detail. The house itself is really cute and so incredibly well maintained—truly perfectly kept. The common areas are period-perfect, like stepping into Downton Abbey, with ample sitting rooms to relax in and soak up the atmosphere. Breakfast was the highlight. Served in the conservatory, it felt as though we had been transported to Victorian England, dining like landed gentry. Every element was thoughtful, delicious, and beautifully presented. Zee and Monica were charming hosts—attentive without being intrusive, and always going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. This is what perfect looks like. We can’t recommend this B&B highly enough. If you’re looking for an experience that’s elegant, warm, and unforgettable, this is it.

“A delightful short stay in Media”

This restored period home oozes charm. Each room is decorated in a different style. We had the Art deco room on the top floor which was very comfortable. The location is also good and the shops and cafes on State Street are a short walk away. The biggest attraction is the hospitality of the hosts Z and Monika who go the extra mile to make sure you are comfortable. Breakfast is not to be missed.

The house is beautiful and the owners clearly put their heart and sole into this space. Furthermore, the owners themselves are lovely and very accommodating to specific needs, such as food allergies, room preferences, etc. The rates are reasonable, and it's located only a couple of blocks from State St in Media, where all of the town's restaurants and shops are.

We had 2 of 3 breakfasts (we had to leave early due to a flight change and missed breakfast on the 3rd morning). Breakfast was fresh and delicious.

“Outstanding Guest House in beautiful surroundings.”

Wonderful welcome from Z to this amazing house. We loved the Renaissance Revival room with its own balcony. The breakfasts were really special with a different cooked dish every morning. Monika and Z made us feel relaxed and at home. The Gifford-Risley is conveniently located within walking distance of the small town of Media which has many shops and restaurants. Trains from the station run into Philadelphia regularly and there are also trolley buses.

My wife and I only stayed 1 night. The house and room were beautiful, clean and well maintained. A nice peaceful old house. The hosts were so nice and the breakfast was absolutely outstanding. We didn't explore the surroundings because we didn't have time. We hope to return someday.

My partner and I were in the area to attend an event and decided to stay at the Gifford Risley House. We were absolutely blown away by the quality of our stay, from the impeccable attention to the decorative details throughout the house to the quality of the breakfasts served and the outstanding hospitality provided to us by Monika and Z. The breakfasts were delicious-- both consisting of multiple courses of food, including Eggs Benedict on our final morning. Monika and Z were so friendly and accommodating to us, which made all the difference. We stayed in the Queen Anne Room and it was more than comfortable and beautifully decorated. The B&B is just a few blocks from downtown Media, which is full of restaurants and shops.

We were so welcomed by Monica, Z and Catherine that we felt as if we were visiting family. Especially nice after an 8 hour flight! A 5 minute walk to the town centre with a million amazing restaurants and 30 minutes to the airport - perfect! The house, furnishings and the lovely verandah were a delight. The piano and the chess set were well utilised too! The breakfasts were delicious - big thanks for the hot sauce! We look forward to our next visit!
