“A delightful home away from home!!”

What a delightful house. Our family of 4 arrived in early January welcomed by Lydia, the host. We had experienced German trains at their worst on the day of arrival, and so ended up arriving at the house over 6 hours behind schedule, and so arrived after 10.30pm on a cold and wet night. Lydia quite happily rode her bike to the house and waited for us with some treats and took her time explaining where everything was, and gave us a whole lot of information about everything we might need. She was very communicative, kind and eager to make our stay pleasant. She even went to the effort of getting information that we were trying to find out relating to train tickets. Her English was excellent which was a bonus for us. The house had a beautiful lit up Christmas tree. It was warm and cosy and very spacious. Beautifully furnished, a well equipped kitchen and a lovely bathroom. The tv had streaming services. Beds were very comfortable. The house was spotlessly clean. There’s also a washing machine and dryer and a clothes drying rack. Our family felt very much at home. Lydia has put a lot of love and thought into making this house a delightful and comfortable place. The house is in a great location. It’s in a very quiet street. There’s a large Carrefour supermarket 200metres from the house. Further down (300metres) there’s a great bakery/deli. We were able to walk to the main town very easily. Took around 15 minutes. It’s also very easy getting to the train station. The bus stop is a few metres from the house and it only takes around 10 minutes with the bus to get to the train station. We quite easily took the train to Brussels. We will definitely return and stay longer to explore more of Mechelen and surrounding towns. Thank you for a great stay.

“Very comfortable and value for money...”

Whilst outside the city, it was easy to access as there is a regular bus at the end of the road which goes direct to Mechelen station or near the city centre. Mechelen was lovely and well connected to other key locations in Northern Belgium including Brussels, Ghent and Bruges all of which we visited. We used public transport extensively which by and large was easy but if you're coming from the UK use the Belgian Railways website as easier to navigate than talking to staff at stations... But a really good stay in a good location in a lovely country with lovely people.

Lovely traditional house. Very clean. Big bedrooms. The owner was so helpful and friendly. Only 2 minutes walk to a well stocked shop.

A lovely characterful house in a quiet side street (with parking), about 15 minutes to walk to the town centre. Great outside seating space (covered and open). Very helpful and responsive host.

Nice house with lots of history and unique experience. Kitchen with cookware and utensils. Host was waiting for us to hand over the keys as we arrive. Rooms have decent sizes and beds are comfortable.

Spacious accommodation, equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable stay, in particular a lot of beautiful dishes and furniture. Located within walking distance from the center of Mechelen. There is a supermarket nearby. There is a garage for a car. Small patio. Very nice and responsive hostess.

The lady of the house was the cutest ever. She had everything for us and tried to give us also recommendations for restaurants and the area around which was amazing.

What an amazing gem. The owner is the nicest person on continental Europe, you'll believe me once you've stayed here. Her English is very good and she was very accommodating and helpful. Its like staying with family. Everyone in my group felt at home from the moment we arrived. There was enough parking for 3 cars and the area seemed very safe. We were amazed that you get the whole house including garden for your money. We will be looking to return in the future. This is one not to miss if you need a place to relax.
